It's Official--The FCC Will Vote to Take Over the Internet in December
Big Government ^ | November 23, 2010 | Seton Motley

Just this past Friday, we warned you that a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) December Internet power grab was probably coming.

Well, we now know that it is – and it may be even worse than we thought.

Details have been sketchy, and successive reports often contradictory, but what follows is what seems to be looming over us in December. (We will know for sure on Wednesday, November 24 – if the FCC maintains its current December 15 meeting date.)

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski appears to be preparing to dramatically increase the FCC’s regulatory role over the Internet (in TWO ways; more on that later).

He is doing so without the necessary Congressional authority – which he himself acknowledges he doesn’t have. And he is doing so by torturing and twisting the regulatory language he is drafting – so as to keep this extraordinary dictatorial seizure within the current Title I confines.

That may hve been true 3 years ago. We now have an administration that does not recognize those old fashioned laws.

Stupid headline, the fcc does not have a vote........

The FCC has five commissioners, no more than three of which can be from the same political party. How do they decide things as a body? Volleyball game?

The FCC Will Vote to Take Over the Internet in December
The Republicans in congress had better do something about it in January or they’ll never win another national Presidential election and they’ll lose the House in 2012.

If the Republicans don’t get their act together and stop kow-towing to the criminal fraud dictator, BO, then our “elections” will be just like the “elections” in Venezuala.

“as of January not one penny of appropriation for the FCC should pass the House”

That gets MY vote.

Obama is poking us and poking us in hopes of a revolutionary response, so that he has an excuse to impose Martial Law, prison camps, etc.

the FCC steps in to supposedly fix a problem that DOES NOT EXIST.

The problem exists in theory. Comcast could mess with your access to streaming shows on Hulu or Netflix movies. And Verizon could interfere with your Vonage account. No hard proof those things are actually happening at the moment though.

I’d rather take my chances with that sort of corporate malfeasance than with an over-arching, corrupt government.

The weird thing here is WHAT is the big “problem” that supposedly exists that has to be rectified by government regulation of our flow of information on the Web?

That large ISPs have been cutting off consumers based on the protocol used and threatened people who plug things into "their" networks. They have also stated a desire to start making content providers (Free Republic is one) pay them to get to their captive customers who are already paying them to get to sites such as FR. That would effectively silence sites that cannot afford to pay. It's extortion, "Hey FR, you wouldn't want to get a large portion of your packets dropped, now would you? We can make sure that doesn't happen."

Any regulation in this case is to ensure the flow stays open. I challenge anybody to show me a net neutrality proposal in the FCC that regulates any perceived bias of the communications themselves, i.e., fairness doctrine.

Yeah, that's right. We'll vote demoncrats in. That'll change things.

For one thing they will no longer be able to monitor the broadcast power and technical specs at radio stations.

You’ll be able to hear Mark Levin on Jupiter.

The GOP is down to it’s LAST, and I do mean LAST chance.

If they blow it, they turn into the Whigs, and the Tea Party becomes the true opposition party.

Pssst. The federal government already controls the Internet. It always has. It only ceded the day-to-day management to a contracted company. Remember the international uproar back when Bush refused to give up control of the Internet? He did that because to give up control could mean entities like the Muzzie- and socialist-controlled UN would have a say in how it’s managed.

Pinioned by gravity on the floor of my yacht which is roiled on a storm-tossed sea of liquid metallic hydrogen in abyssal, Stygian blackness as a Category 5 cyclone of ammonia thunders outside- I will be soothed by the dulcet tones of Mark's calming demeanor.

In a relative way, that is.

The weird thing here is WHAT is the big “problem” that supposedly exists that has to be rectified by government regulation of our flow of information on the Web? I have posted THOUSANDS of posts without any hindrance for years. Anybody else have such trouble? I think not yet here the FCC steps in to supposedly fix a problem that DOES NOT EXIST

haven’t tried to post a conservative thought over at DU have you?

Not saying anything needs to be “fixed” by the FCC. The DU and everywhere else is free to allow or disallow anything on their sites.

We'll do what America has been doing since the 1800s 1860's about overreaching federal government. Absolutely nothing

Fixed it for you.
