If I bring a gun on a plane will I still be able to have a few cocktails during the flight? I hope that right is not taken away.

NO!

There are too many issues surrounding decompression of the airplane, the appropriate type of round to employ and the training issues associated with shooting in such a confined space surrounded by bystanders.

Now if they would allow us to carry knives and tasers, that's a different story.

Although the issue surrounding armed people drinking would remain.

Air marshals on the Planes is the cheapest and best answer

Sure, at $10 a drink. Look, you can beat your gums about this until you're blue in the face. You can post newswire stories ad infinitum. But you're not facing the real problem. The reason nazi TAS thugs and goons exist in the first place. Muslims.

Muslims don't have to bomb airliners. But they do it because it strikes fear and terror into innocent people and it is a spectacularly murderous way to put America into crisis. Let's face it. All they have to do is drive up to a terminal at O'Hare, jump out and blow themselves up inside while 1,000s wait in secuity check-lines killing far more than some airline disaster. And they may. But it's not their goal.

And stop calling them terrorists. They're MUSLIMS. They're CAIR. They're just down the block. And they're ALL dangerous. Their goal is world domination by eradicating INFIDELS. That's you and your family.

The TSA is just a symptom. The disease that kills is islam.

civilians can have more practical benefit for air travel security than does groping septuagenarian nuns or toddlers.

I gotta get me some coffee. When I read that I was trying to picture septuagenarian toddlers.

All they really need is a big crowd. If multiple, simultaneous attacks (electronically-linked devices for a one goes/all go effect) happened in a busy airport amongst many people at different check-ins all held up in line by the TSA, the terrorists' goal would pretty much be achieved. Would the TSA then announce that they were setting up preliminary screenings outside the airports or at locations in the city away from the airport, the pre-screened passengers then bused to the airport? Then those sites would become the target. Would they set up pre-pre-screens against that? Before, you flew knowing there was a chance that someone could take the plane down. Now, if your risks included getting taken out at the airport and getting groped by agents of the government (anyone working by mandate of the government is an agent of the government), who would bother to subject themselves to that?

not onlyt “letting” passengers carry weapons...making it a requirement of travel that they do so will ensure the safety of the flight, its crew, and the passengers...

I BET the Hussein/Pelosi/Reid Axis-of-Evil have let the armed pilots program and enhanced Air Marshal presence programs die a quiet death, as I’ve not heard much about either program for a good while.

Here’s an idea . . . Remember those in-flight phones they used to mount in the back of the seats? Replace those with Tasers. The device would stay locked in place unless the flight crew and/or flight deck officers pushed a button to release them. Once trouble arises, there’s an active Taser in every other row of the plane.

They could even add instructions for using the Tasers to the pre-flight safety instructions. Some folks are in exit seats and need to know how to deal with certain kinds of emergencies. Others are in Taser seats and would need to know how to operate the device. Just the instructions would be enough to make any troublemaker think twice.

Propositions like this were made right after 9-11. Like then, they will go nowhere.

Why? Because it removes the Washington bureaucrats from the decision-loop, something they simply will not allow. It's preferable to have an entire airliner full of passengers shot down by a fighter aircraft -- because that's something they do control.

Arming the passengers is the right thing to do- the nature of the weapon has to be considered, of course. Most of the passengers will be untrained in the use of weapons, and guns with normal ammunition would pose too much danger to passengers and airframe both.

The solution is simple (if expensive)- a taser mounted in the back of every seat, with printed instructions. They would have to be locked down, with each member of the flight crew able to unlock them for passenger use (possibly with a remote carried by each one) in case of need.

Of couse, every passenger wouldn’t be capable of taking action, but I think that enough would be to overcome any group of attackers.

A number of years ago Mad magazine had a great 3 panel cartoon on this subject.

Panel one was of the inside of an airliner full of passengers calmly sitting around.

Panel two had all of them jumping up with guns announcing a hijacking with them all noticing everyone else was armed.

Panel three was of the inside of an airliner full of passengers calmly sitting around.

The point is that no one is going to hijack an aircraft if they think they will be shot 2 second after screaming Alelupe Akabar or something.

passengers should be armed just to fend off the TSA goons

The TSA exists to teach submission to government. It has no purpose for flight safety.

I”ve always said this. It makes sense. If anyone says anything about decompression, they don’t understand the science.

Had the passengers been armed on 9/11, the World Trade Center would still be standing.

If this were really a free country, there would be an ATF airline. When you get on the plane, you get a choice of alcohol, tobacco, or a firearm for the flight. It’d be the safest aircraft in the sky, with the happiest passengers.

It’s a good idea. I won’t fly ever again until the sexual molestation by TSA is gone and I can defend myself on an aircraft.

Until then, I will not be giving the airlines a single penny of my money.
