Air marshals on the Planes is the cheapest and best answer
That was my first thought on 9-11...and we’ve had a lot of talk about it. But very little action.
I can’t see having them on many domestic flights though, can you?
Nor can I understand all the scanning and groping being done on domestic flights, which are spawning most of the complaints as far as I can tell. The terror attempts we’ve seen have come on international flights.
IF they have enough, which they don't, and IF they'd let them dress in a more undercover mode (instead of professional dress - suit and tie, etc.), which they won't.
Government, except for our military, screws up virtually everything they touch.
Actually, the best AND cheapest (since the gov required them to pay for their own training) was/is the armed pilots program. If properly trained and armed, THAT is the BEST, most cost effective answer, AND, would have almost certainly, been the ONLY thing that would have kept the 9/11 terrorist bastards out of the cockpit.
Actually, the cheapest answer is allowing passengers to carry. I already own a firearm and it’d cost the airline nothing to allow me to fly while carrying it.
Air marshals are not the answer because the last several attempts have not been by people wanting to commandeer the aircraft but people wanting to blow them up. What we need is smarter methods of screening people and those methods involve profiling and making terrorists feel uncomfortable.
