Freep This 2012 Straw Poll
No Muzzle Politics ^ | 10-20-2010 | Justin Higgins

Every weekend, I will be releasing my “Horserace” rankings for the 2012 Republican Primary field. These are my rankings based on likelihood to win the nomination (not necessarily beat Obama). The first total takes into account general measures of electability (my more detailed breakout includes name recognition, fundraising ability, grassroots support and establishment support). The second total includes domestic issues, including jobs & the economy, taxes & spending, bailouts, health care and social issues. The final total (national security) includes both immigration and foreign policy in a broader sense. These totals reflect their views against the default majority position within the Republican Party.

"Whom do you suggest I vote for?"

Maybe some words from Mike Pence will help:

“Whereas the president must be cautious, dutiful, and deferential at home, his character must change abroad. Were he to ask for a primer on how to act in relation to other states, which no holder of the office has needed to this point, and were that primer to be written by the American people, whether of 1776 or 2010, you can be confident that it would contain the following instructions:

You do not bow to kings. Outside our shores, the President of the United States of America bows to no man. When in foreign lands, you do not criticize your own country. You do not argue the case against the United States, but the case for it. You do not apologize to the enemies of the United States. Should you be confused, a country, people, or region that harbors, shelters, supports, encourages, or cheers attacks upon our country or the slaughter of our friends and families are enemies of the United States. And, to repeat, you do not apologize to them.”

I’m not advocating one specific candidate, though I would like to see the rock solid conservatives do well. I like Mitch Daniels, though I know his social issues “truce” talk made some folks uncomfortable. Mitch’s record is solid on social issues though and he’s a fiscal warrior.

Up to you.

I wish polls like this offered voters two choices.

I mean, a chance to pick two instead of just one.

Any poll with Rick Santorum on it is a joke.

But I voted anyway.

Rick Santorum may be a joke of a candidate, but all signs point to Santorum jumping in.

I think Pence is the guy.

Hubby (pretty good marker for your ordinary, uninformed type voter) saw him on some TV news show and thought he was GREAT!

Hubby hates pols and politics, he only puts up with it because he loves me.

So, if hubby liked him, I think Pence has a real ability to reach beyond the base.

I LOVE Sarah Palin, but it is true that her negatives are majorly high. I’m not sure how far down you could bring those and I’m not sure SHE could bring them down.

We need someone who can motivate the base and capture the center.

Obama’s base WILL go to the polls and vote for him next time. (Unless something too dreadful to contemplate occurs and maybe even then.)

Our base WILL go to the polls unless we let Romney or some other RINO re-tread sneak through like McCain did last time (for want of a better alternative).

But, nobody wins without the middle.

And, we have a nice, simple slogan all ready: WE LIKE MIKE!

Palin's negatives are media-hyped, 24/7 drummed into those that are not really interested in getting a Conservative in the White House, but would rather stick with the good ol' boy system, where we don't "offend" anyojne.....such as political correctness has buried us, but people are too unwilling to admit it, and speak the truth....

Palin is the Real Deal, and wishing for a "more electable" candidate got what we have had for the past two years. Hollywood-approved candidates are NOT Conservatives, and for us to fall into the same mold (electable/non-offensive) support is to become cannon fodder for the Liberal Left.

For anyone (and everyone) MIKE PENCE'S ENTIRE SPEECH at Hillsdale. This should be shared - it's also on audio, but someone else does the read.
