Science the GOP can't wish away
The Washington Post ^ | Friday, November 19, 2010 | Sherwood Boehlert

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:18:56 PM PST by libs_kma

Watching the raft of newly elected GOP lawmakers converge on Washington, I couldn't help thinking about an issue I hope our party will better address. I call on my fellow Republicans to open their minds to rethinking what has largely become our party's line: denying that climate change and global warming are occurring and that they are largely due to human activities.

National Journal reported last month that 19 of the 20 serious GOP Senate challengers declared that the science of climate change is either inconclusive or flat-out wrong.

Sherwood, I have an earned Ph.D. in a field of science and have been following the ups and downs of "climate change" since the 1970s. I can definitively say that you're as stupid as your name. There is no human impact on climate change that is detectable. All variation noted is within natural levels as detected over the past however many years you want to look, far, far back beyond any time that man could ever have had any effect. Come back to reality before it's too late. Otherwise, piss off.

“If it was true, people would not lie about it and fix the numbers to try and prove it.”

The best argument against is the raw temp data:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2232622/posts

If 89% of the surface stations measuring temperature are in error, then there is no basis whatsoever to say whether the earth is cooling, warming, or remaining constant, let alone conclude that warming or cooling is ‘bad’ for the planet.

You undercut all the BS by going to the raw data. They simply don’t know what the temperatures are and they have to know that before they plug that bad data into their bad computer models.

It’s the classic effort to make data conform to an already biased pre-conclusion - iow, the _exact opposite_ of science and the scientific method.

I'll go with that 2nd thing.

Right after China Steamrolls us, do you think the Commie Chinese will care about their CO2 footprint, nah, they will send people who twitter about it to “re-education camps”

China is expected to over take us in CO2 production soon if they haven’t already, and all I hear about is how WE are so bad....

Focusing on the e-mails was part of the whitewash. The real shock was the computer program source code that was leaked. It was clearly written to fudge all the data. Such blatant manipulation of data completely invalidates any work from CRU or anybody else that used their data as a basis for further “research”. Anybody that took even a basic programming class in high school or college would recognize what they’d done in a moment.

He is a damn liberal...

“Having yet another vote on refinery legislation that uses high oil prices as an excuse to weaken environmental protections and to give more legislative gifts to the oil industry is misguided in the extreme.”

Mr. Boehlert, I could write a book about how wrong these people—and you—are, but I’ll keep it concise:

1. The core idea of global warming theory is that if 3/10,000 of our atmosphere is CO2 we’re going to skip happily through sustainable meadows with unicorns and if it’s 4/10,000 the world is going to be wrecked. It doesn’t matter how many scientists say what, that is never going to make even the tiniest bit of sense.

2. Roughly 100 years ago, in 1911, scientific consensus was that black men had intelligence significantly lower than whites, and the reason for the difference was that the black was too distracted by an obsession with sex to use his brain properly. Doubt me? Find an edition of the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica, turn to the entry for “Negro” and weep at the folly of humanity.

3. Even if there was global warming caused by human carbon emissions, there is nothing—NOTHING— that America can do that will stop China and India from building industry. So, if you folks really had the brainpower you think you do, you’d be preparing for global warming, not trying to stop it by screwing with my light bulbs.

I like to put it this way...

Anthropogenic Global Warming in two sentences:

If CO2 makes up 3/10,000 of our atmosphere, we can skip through sustainable meadows with unicorns.

If CO2 makes up 4/10,000 of our atmosphere, the planet will be wrecked and at least a billion people will die.

Makes lots of sense, don’t it. BTW, there’s less CO2 in the atmosphere than freakin’ argon.

Don’t give them any ideas, they will now go after people who use Argon for whatever Argon is used for.....
