Science the GOP can't wish away
The Washington Post ^ | Friday, November 19, 2010 | Sherwood Boehlert

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:18:56 PM PST by libs_kma

Watching the raft of newly elected GOP lawmakers converge on Washington, I couldn't help thinking about an issue I hope our party will better address. I call on my fellow Republicans to open their minds to rethinking what has largely become our party's line: denying that climate change and global warming are occurring and that they are largely due to human activities.

National Journal reported last month that 19 of the 20 serious GOP Senate challengers declared that the science of climate change is either inconclusive or flat-out wrong.

[ Mr. Boehlert, I could write a book about how wrong these people—and you—are, but I’ll keep it concise:

1. The core idea of global warming theory is that if 3/10,000 of our atmosphere is CO2 we’re going to skip happily through sustainable meadows with unicorns and if it’s 4/10,000 the world is going to be wrecked. It doesn’t matter how many scientists say what, that is never going to make even the tiniest bit of sense.

2. Roughly 100 years ago, in 1911, scientific consensus was that black men had intelligence significantly lower than whites, and the reason for the difference was that the black was too distracted by an obsession with sex to use his brain properly. Doubt me? Find an edition of the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica, turn to the entry for “Negro” and weep at the folly of humanity.

3. Even if there was global warming caused by human carbon emissions, there is nothing—NOTHING— that America can do that will stop China and India from building industry. So, if you folks really had the brainpower you think you do, you’d be preparing for global warming, not trying to stop it by screwing with my light bulbs. ]

Yeah, Phrenology is such an accurate field of research.... Well it used to be, much like the scientific folly of years past, science if gradually evolving, but it can't evolve out of the Global Warming hysteria even when confronted with the pure hard cold facts. I guess Gore-Bull Warming is one of their "sacred cows".

I got something to sell you: Photobucket

And a new theory to pitch: Mars Warming

Save mars, destroy Earth!

There is no science behind “global warming”.

Science is and always has been a process where one compares the predictions of his theory to actual data and if there is a match, or even a hint of a match, publishes the results. All of the results, including the original data.

The notion that a select group can live in an echo chamber, sharing their data only with each other, and denying the data to all skeptics is not science. It is propaganda.

When we see all of the original data published and all of the ways in which it was manipulated explained in detail, and skeptics have the chance to analyze the data according to their own theories, then and only then will we have science.

This guy just wants everyone to "admit" that "the sky is falling!"

Well, whether global warming exists or not, whether it is manmade or not, the fact remains that the sky simply is not falling.

If there really is an issue here, then it will be solved naturally and eventually, without the artificial need for people or nations to hysterically surrender their economic freedom and sovereignty.

Heh!

There’s always been Climatology and Meteorology if I remember it right!

Political Standpoint:

Since the liberals are claiming about Climate Change using scientific materials ... then Climate Science is therefore necessary.

Real Life/Pure Science:

WE REALLY NEED TO STUDY CLIMATE AND WEATHER AS PART OF OUR OVERALL DISASTER MITIGATION PLAN.

Common!

Palin’s Climate Change Sub-Office:

She said it outrightly: To prove whether “climate change” is really melting ice in North Slope. What happened: she used that office as a platform to disprove the claims of Al Gore.

IN A FORMAL DEBATE, YOU CAN’T JUST SAY “CLIMATE IS FIXED AND WILL NEVER CHANGE!”. YOU’LL LOSE THE DEBATE IMMEDIATELY.

Oops. I forgot.

Even Heritage Foundation has already its own “Science” group to include “Climate Science” tackling climate change.

For me change can go both ways: either colder or hotter!

BWA HA HA HA!

Sherwood, if you are a true believer, that climate change is a problem, and that it is human-caused -- why have you not yet committed suicide?

Are you not willing to help solve the problem?

Ooooohhhh -- you want other people to die in your place, to solve this major, major problem, one totally fabricated by leftists to scam tons and tons of money from real people, and justify the "elimination" of many millions of real people. OK, got it.

This douchenozzle is scamming to protect his job since he can’t seem to get reelected.

IIRC, he retired voluntarily. "On March 17, 2006, at a press conference in Utica, New York, Boehlert announced that he would not seek a thirteenth term in office." That's a quote from Wikipedia.

Sherwood Boehlert opened his mind at the bottom and everything fell out. An open mind is an empty mind.

algore just came out and admitted he was wrong about ethanol subsidies. Why doesn't Boehlert criticize this nitwit for ignoring science? The elitists push the meme that Republicans are creationists and therefore anti-science. It's part of their campaign to de-legitimise the majority of the American People, so the elitist can push their power grabs through without much opposition.

I despise them.

You can read the entire article and you won’t find a single scientific fact mentioned. What you will find at the bottom, though, is the following:

“He is a special adviser to the Project on Climate Science”

My suspicion is that like most high profile supporters of AGW (Gore being the prime example), he goes on about folks ignoring science, but he couldn’t explain the science to save his life, let alone argue over the scientific details with anyone who’s looked into it at all.

He’s kept around by groups like the “Project on Climate Science” not because of any expertise on climate science, but because of political cachet - and that’s it.

I don't want anybody stupid enough to buy into that sort of bullshit in my political party, the dems can have him.

I'll bet he bought the bull about the:

'club of Rome',

the 'population bomb',

global cooling,

ethanol,

no nuclear plants,

white bread is poison,

McDonalds is killing children,

people should be crowded into dense cities so snails have more room...

etc,

etc, etc.

Whoopie, he “retired”. His polls said he couldn’t be elected or he got some gig that paid better. Still no credibility for the religion of oppression in the name of climate.

Don’t you know, silly? Argon is used to make Argyle socks of course. It was also used by the Hollywood Argyles in their sound effects.
