Any remaining doubts that Sarah Palin is the most media savvy politician out there should have been erased entirely with last week's premiere of her new TLC show Sarah Palin's Alaska (SPAlaska!).
Back in March when rumors that Palin and producer Mark Burnett were shopping a reality show first surfaced speculation that the proposed series would be about Palin's family were quickly shot down. Two weeks ago during a spashy premiere party for the show, hosted by Discovery, the savvy team promoting the show insisted to attendees it would not be political. Of course, within minutes of last week's premiere, in which (blurred out) write Joe McGinniss -- who has rented out the house next door to the Palin's in order to research his new book -- featured prominently, both claims were quickly proven untrue. The show is nothing if not an extended political commericial for (decisive! adventurous!) Sarah Palin, starring her family members, each of whom get their own shout-out in the opening credits.
Conclusion? Essentially Palin has convinced TLC to pay her six figures every week to convince the country she is presidential material (making Mark Burnett her Karl Rove?). Or, at the very least, she possesses the kind of decisive backbone required to stun a Halibut with a billy club (part of last night's mother/daughter day with Bristol) and by extension her political opponents.
The result is apparently enough to convince Frank Rich that she has a shot at being President.
Thanks to the in-kind contribution of this nonpolitical series, Palin neednt join standard-issue rivals like Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour and Tim Pawlenty in groveling before donors and primary-state operatives to dutifully check all the boxes of a traditional Republican campaign. Palin not only has TLC in her camp but, better still, Murdoch.

I read DB’s comment as satire.
Yes, it was. I didn’t expect that it would be, but it was good. I enjoyed every second, but especially when she told of her baby shower at the range and why she loves telling that story. After all this time of Republicans always offering the other cheek, always accepting blame, always letting the left define the terms of the debate, here finally is someone who loudly declares, “We’re rewriting the paradigm, boys! Buck up or get back in the truck!”
Gender would matter not one whit to me, but I have to admit that I like that she’s of mine.
We enjoyed her telling Bristol there were other fish in the sea.
Ha haaaaa!!! In your face, Levon Johnston!
I know that's not his real name.
I was in a hospital hallway today, heard somebody snarl, “How could they even give somebody like that their own show?” And I knew immediately from the grammatical errors and the implied thuggery that he was talking about Palin’s Alaska. It sure put a smile on my face.
Their business analysis is crappy and biased as well.
I enjoyed the show very much! I just feel that we Americans are so fortunate to have Sarah amongst us. Wholesome, witty, decisive, and confident about her life. We would truly be blessed to have such a leader. But it is not in our hands. All of need to become like Sarah Palin and quit the liberal whining, the politics of personal destruction and the whole entitlement mentality. Go Sarah and big kudos to Todd, the strong silent one!
Many people had media careers before announcing their candidacy for high office.
Recently, John Kasick (a former Representative) hosted a weekend show of FNC for several years, and occasionally guest hosted until he announced his candidacy for Governor of Ohio.
J.D. Hayworth (a former Representative) had a daily radio show until he announced his candidacy for Senator from Arizona.
Arnold Schwarzenegger had a thriving movie career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.
Ronald Reagan had a successful movie career, followed by a TV and radio career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.
Palin is just the latest, albiet during a time of greater media diversity.

Daxton Brown said “ But she is really stupid and has trouble tying her shoes.”
I disagree. Sarah seems very intelligent and the comment about tying her shoes is really stupid.
And she's getting paid for it. No wonder they're afraid of her. LOL
Im sure it is exploding some Republican insiders heads too.
Absolutely...I’d like to hear some of their comments, I’m sure they’re not pretty. :-)
How about Barbara Bush saying Sarah should stay home in Alaska?
Barbara Bush has served this country well from 1980-1992. She is entitled to her opinion. I don’t agree with it, but she shouldn’t be demeaned or insulted because she expressed it.
I need some GOP Elephant workout socks like that. Watched last night and enjoyed every minute. Also loved the extra attention Todd got several times during last nights episode. He is a great guy, Dad and supports his wife 1000%.
I like her shows.
I watched both of them and I don’t really like tv very much. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I was surprised that I did. Granted I am a fan of Sarah’s, but even if I wasn’t, I would have enjoyed the shows. Beautiful scenery, and fun to watch Sarah. She is so likable and down to earth. Oh did I mention that she’s gorgeous?
Who was demeaning or insulting her for her opinion?
Piss on her, she should keep her catty comments to herself.
TLC is going to make out just fine with the arrangement, so the argument that it is some sort of “contribution in kind” is crazy talk. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement, a ‘win-win’ scenario.
2 for satire, then.
That was a proactive post that didn’t work very well. LOL!
Why? You don’t! LOL!
