L.A. contrail a missile launch? Retired general thinks so (op-ed)
Daily Inter Lake.com ^ | Sunday, November 21, 2010 2:00 am | Updated: 8:13 am, Sun Nov 21, 2010. | Jim Cash, retired brigadier general, U.S. Air Force

Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.

I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

(snip)

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.

Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

I believe a single 50kt city buster detonation about a mile high over Kansas would effectively shut down every non hardened electric device from coast to coast. If this was such an attempt, their missile guidance sucked, and the dink with the camera missed the more dramatic sinking of the launch platform.

I know for a fact that the US Navy, as a matter of policy, does not let too many missile launch capable boats hover off the west coast.

I read a book “War Day” years back, I recommend it to those who think this was an attack.

I bet the navy is going to come up one tomahawk short at its next audit.

Or the Pentagon is cutting off a new purchase orders to Hughes and GD and GE.

I have to burst your bubble, but consistent symmmetric turns in the contrail are indicative of a jet airliner.

It is the wing-tip vortices which cause this effect.

If you look at the photos or video, there are two distinct trails.

Missiles and ICBMs don’t have two distinct trails.

The camera man said launch point over horizon. Have been assuming that the west-northwest track was the one intended, but hey, maybe we got some stuff now that can cause problems with guidance systems or affect trajectory. They may have been intending to get that puppy where you state, right over the heartland, but had a guidance problem.

Use your eyes people. And your brains. Take a look at the difference between aircraft contrails (vapor trails) and rocket plumes.

Notice that both Wiki and the EPA say that contrails generally occur at 26,000 feet or higher. Contrails do not start off at ground level and continue vertically from there.

Contrail

Aircraft Contrails Factsheet

Missle launch videos showing rocket plumes:

S.L.B.M. Launch Off California Coast Novemeber 8 2010

The last Titan IV missile launch

Trident I C-4 Launch

Missile test? Key West, FL new years eve 2008

Aircraft contrails:

Aircraft take offs @ Hong Kong International Airport

Passing a Thomas Cook Airbus A330 at 38,000 Feet

Passing a Lufthansa 747-400, followed by a Southwest 737 From 35,000 Feet

Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 flies over Berlin with 5 contrails (06|03|2010)

Missile test? Key West, FL new years eve 2008

Anybody here besides myself see the difference?

No matter who fired an SLBM off the coast of L.A., it has extremely serious implications for the national security of the U.S. Either Obama's military is so incompetent that they accidentally fired an SLBM off the coast of L.A., or our enemies are so emboldened by a pathetically weak President that they dare intimidate us by such a naked display of power off our coasts.

Just as bad, our press is either indifferent to the implications to our national security or they are complicit in the cover-up.

Stage separation is very visible, but you knew that didn't you? Does it have to be posted again?

Hmmm...well that baseless accusation makes your argument so much more compelling...I guess it has to be posted again, because I haven't seen any evidence of a stage separation in any of the released video or in Warren's photos, nor have I heard any eyewitness describe a stage separation.

Lay it on me. And while you're doing that, explain how an object that is supposed to reach a target thousands of miles away in 10 to 15 minutes is still visible with a $900 Nikon 5 minutes or more after launch, when it should be around a thousand miles away and in outer space.

“lol. I swear there must be people getting paid to trash the missle theory. There are tons of them on FR. “

I do my work pro-bono. It is a benefit to society to keep you missile theory guys spinning so that we can collect your IP addresses and collect you one-by-one for relocation to the FEMA camps.

Do you ever wonder why the missile defenders seem to be disappearing one by one?

Why else would an AF general come out and support a crackpot theory?

We are coming for you, missileers, and there is nothing you can do.

As I see it, there are two possible reasons why the whole video has not been released.

1-The gubberment asked them not to. The edited and cut section of footage that has been released got out before they asked them to not post the whole thing. If this is the case, the whole video is probably gone. The gubberment just got really lucky that KCBS chose to use no footage of the lingering smoke trail with the object disapearing off into the west in their report, and that they chose not to just stick all the uncut footage up on the web.

2-The whole video would not show boost stages and then 8-9 minutes of a lingering smoke plume. It would show a jet. A local CBS station manipulated the video to make traffic for their website and give the story legs. If this is the case, the whole video is probably gone, in order to save jobs and more black eyes for the CBS name.

“The fact that Obama is covering it up tells you how serious it was. The government has no answer as to HOW a Chinese sub was able to approach the American coastline and launch a missile undetected. “

Well you’ve blown the lid off this thing. Anyone who thinks that this is not a missile is a China-loving Obama supporter.

Only true patriots can see that this is a missile.

I saw one trail. Understand wing tip vortices, but aren’t there usually two in opposite directions? I saw one clockwise twist, for example from a cheap spin-stabilized SCUD type islamonut piece of low tech garbage. Don’t they have those that they can fire out of a shipping container?

Or was I seeing it wrong?

Seeing all the general’s experience in the military is good enough for me.

That's because you already wanted to believe the missile theory.

It is funny how folks put so much credibility into the rank when they want to believe. When they don't agree, they can easily discount the rank. Take a look for posts about ret Brig. Gen Michael Aguilar (chief of the TSA office in San Diego) for an example.

Besides the crap coming from the WH, i expect that with UhBummer, The republicans are not raising hell!!!
Jeez..Chineese, IRan, Korea, Russia, playing war games off our coast, a launch like that should have been shot down by our anti missile forces..how hard would it be to launch in one direction, reprogram the missile and slam into LA, Or SF, it would have been in minutes..

We are not being defended on our borders and are lame in our vigilance for other matters as well..

We should be storing oil and friggin going balls to the walls with ethanol, gas, coal, nuclear energy to get out of the middle east...Thank God for the Canadians providing a great part of our supply..
We have our heads in the sand, our president is a traitor, scum bag, our military is decapitated by the liar in Chief, and we still are not serious about getting off middle east oil...

Now we are asked to believe some lame crap about a plane and no party is working for us!!!!

Heads should roll, the truth should be known..

Reminds me of a weird situation many years ago. Back in the days when Rivero ran all over this site. Worked with him a couple of times in Hollywood in the early 1990's. Not my choice. Anyway, sent him email and said, Mike, its me, remember we worked together a couple times. Been watching your posts on FreeRepublic. How you doing. Then he told me he was living in Vancouver Canada. So I said, wow, I just happen to be traveling to Vancouver in a month, which actually was true. Offered to buy him a beer. He then replied that he was really in Hawaii working for a Japanese company. Said he was on the run from the Clinton Arkansas mob. I just scratched my head and laughed. Funny stuff.

BTW, talk about a tough call on credentials: A long time Freeper with missile experience who says “plane” vs a retired brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force who says “missile.” That’s not a joke: I’ve seen Freepers be right vs “authority” enough times to respect the knowledge found here. But I also respect generals (retired or not) who are willing to put their name to their opinions.

Enough to make one’s head spin (destabilize)...

Senator Dianne Feinstein has at least a half billion dollars invested in China.

She would NEVER say a word about any disgrace or danger the Chinese heap upon us.

I dare say there are many many republicans of the Bush family ilk who like Feinstein have money in China and are so greedy and corrupt they will do anything to protect it, and not their own damn country.
