Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.
I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.
Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

Well, you sorta nuked that point. (IOW, yup, well said.)
FWIW, there are still some aspects of the missile version of the story that are hard to swallow; the largest for me being the apparent complete lack of military response in the area. Funny how it's OK to question the missile theory, but you question the contrail theory and you're right into tinfoil territory according to some folks.

1) Glenn Beck has picked on this topic, HotAir has picked up on Beck’s report. It’s bumped the story.
2) KCBS has released all of about 12 seconds of video, mislabeled as “raw,” to start this brouhaha. And clammed up since.
3) No matter which side you take on the event, you want to see the whole shoot, hopefully along with data on the location, altitude, timecode, camera, lens.
4) Glenn Beck has a bigger megaphone than we do.
5) Beck might be able to get the station to release the video.
—— What if we all contacted Beck with that request in the context of media malfeasance in not providing all the evidence they have?

I’m there. We need to know if the media is withholding vital information or yanking our chains. Either way they ought to be held accountable.
We haven't gotten any traction on that idea yet but we sure ought to demand answers. From KCBS and from the government.
I've noticed that common thread as well.
Well, if it was supposed to be a secret US military launch it was ill-conceived to launch it where thousands (if not millions) could inadvertently observe. They just did a military cargo launch out of Kodiak Island this week and gave public notice; and in Kodiak Island maybe at most few hundred people might accidentally observe.
Still many unanswered questions. That is why we are still trying to discuss the issue openly. You could write an entire book just about all the possibilities. Heck a series of books. Too busy myself, and I have already wrote a few. No money in books nowadays.
That’s an excellent idea. Why the tape embargo if “the science is settled”?
In fact, exposing classified information can be a bit bad for one's career.
I know. Years ago I had a friend who was a paper pusher on the Coral Sea. He saw very little that was even close to classified but he wouldn’t talk about certain things if you water boarded him. That was probably ten years after he served so I would guess whatever he saw was old outdated info by then but he wasn’t going there.
Demanding all the tape is a good idea. We need to pinpoint launch point, track direction, speed, and maximum altitude. Then we might get a rough approximation of splash point. Heck, even a slim chance we might recover some of it, assuming they have not recovered it already.
I don’t know. I don’t see how CBS could make any more money on it. If they don’t know what it really was then they’re withholding vital information from the public. If they do know that it wasn’t a missile (I don’t believe that for a minute) and they cut the tape to make it look like one (I don’t see that) then they are irresponsibly frightening the public. Either way they aren’t acting responsibly. Maybe a Senator should recommend yanking their broadcast license.
Once took a computer service call at one of the Lockheed Skunk Works buildings. Up in Burbank somewhere, I think. They had a sign on the Emergency Exit door in the lobby. Basically said - Unauthorized use of this door by an employee during a non-emergency will result in the termination of the employee. Did not even ask what they meant by termination. Assuming job loss, but after seeing that, I thought, these guys is serious.
It looked just like an SLBM. The question is which nation’s sub fired that SLBM right off the southern California coastline?
From KCBS; the full unedited tape, uploaded to the internet in the highest quality form possible, exact time stamps, coordinates of the helo and altitude, compass direction the camera was pointing and when and if they alerted the Navy.
From the government; well, that's spitting in the wind probably.
lol. In either case, it's not optimal.
"CBS station KFMB put in calls to the Navy and Air Force Monday night about the striking launch off the coast of Los Angeles, which was easily visible from the coast, but the military has said nothing about the launch."
They say they reported it but they don't say if it was immediately or how long after the taping of it.
