It is not those things that are unpresidential.
It is the reality show aspect of it. I cleared my calendar to see last week's show. This week I could really care less if I saw it.
A documentary would be presidential. A reality show imo is not.
Define “reality show”..
It does no good to act "presidential" if the end result is an out of touch "Obama" who has no clue what it takes to live in the real world.
It wasn’t what you were expecting...I can understand that. It isn’t a travelogue but it is an entertaining way to present Alaska. And it’s educational, for instance this evening I learned Alaska supplies 60% of the seafood to the lower 48. And I saw how terribly hard the fishermen work. It gave me a new appreciation for the hard life chosen by some very hardy people. I also enjoyed the skeet shooting scene and the kayak race. These are things I’ve never done, but I’ve been curious about how it was done and if I might someday do it. It also showcased some beautiful scenery. Overall I didn’t feel the need to check other channels to see if something better was showing.
What makes this a "reality show" and not a documentary?
Is someone getting voted off?
Was there a tribal council that I missed?
So there’s a “presidential” formula? One has to do “thus and so” and not vary from it in any way? Funny, I don’t remember the CONSTITUTION saying anything about the president having to act a certain way or do certain things. How the heck did people like Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt or Ronald “Bedtime for Bonzo isn’t very presidential” Reagan ever get elected? They didn’t follow the status quo either.
Oh, the horrors! A president OF the people. Pulease! Maybe the reason we’ve had such crappy presidents since Reagan is because we’re too focused on what we’ve been suckered into believing is the way a potential president is supposed to act.
But thank heavens we have Obama now who ACTED presidential and won. And we’ve got Romney waiting in the wings. He acts “presidential” too. Thanks for reminding us what the formula is. Appearances are much more important than substance, I guess. We wouldn’t want to break from the way presidents have acted the past couple decades. We just might end up with REAL change and that just wouldn’t be good for the country don’tcha know.

It's really not a reality show...it's kind of like the "Dirty Jobs" show where an aspect of Alaska is presented in an entertaining way with some entertaining hosts. It is kind of a unique format in its own way. I would agree that it's not "Presidential"...but strangely enough I think that's a plus for her political career. If the show wasn't entertaining nobody would watch it.
