A Colorado man said he's invented a product that can eliminate concern about privacy in new airport screening body scanners.
Jeff Buske is an inventor and the owner of Rocky Flats Gear, the company that sells specialized underwear. The undergarments have metal inserts that are supposed to protect the wearer's health and privacy.
He claims the underwear protects your body from radiation.
"The object is not to make money but to protect the public, educate people and ultimately see these X-Ray machines put in the dumpster," said Buske.
He said it's impossible to hide something from TSA screeners behind the metal plates.
"If someone is trying to hide something large under the thing it's going to show up as a bulge, visible to the eye, the product is very thin," said Buske .
TSA said the body scanners used at Denver International Airport use harmless imaging technology and the backscatter machines that emit radiation have been evaluated for safety by the federal government and Johns Hopkins University.
I wonder what would happen if someone showed up to fly wearing a full set of medieval armor.
Would there be a specific law against wearing it as clothing?
Actually I’ve been thinking about a different sort of invention along these lines:
Underwear for guys with an air-operated “enhancement feature” that can be deployed prior to going thru the naked body scanner to prevent any possibility of “humiliation”.
Everyone knows about Haynes underwear, but “Holmes Underwear” could make flying a source of pride ;-)
I love the figleaf decoration!
...maybe even bending over and spreading their cheeks....
....then ask if it is o.k. to get on the plane now.
I’d do it for $20. :O)

Any sporting goods store - jock & metal cup. Pack your junk.
If there isn’t there soon will be. After all the primary consideration is contain and control, isn’t it?

Let’s start a urban legend about how screeners get cancer from the xray machines.
I am guessing this underwear just might get you groped after the TSA scanner person looks at your scan and is satisfied.
TSA would make you take it off. As for any law against it TSA doesn’t need any law against it. They make up the rules as they go along.
is not satisfied............
If this works it’s great for people who have no choice and have to fly. But, this virtual strip search and/or forced molestation by the TSA HAS GOT TO STOP PERIOD.
screeners get cancer from the xray machines.
Probably fact. Look at the damn thing! When the Xray Tech gives you the rays, he or she is hiding behind the lead sheild. Not to mention WTF is calibrating these things.
Good thing that I do not fly and have no intentions of doing so. When they start with these xray machines in subways or buildings, I'll be avoiding those locations. Soon I'll be stuck at home, food delivered by Amazon.
The purpose of the scanners is to see inside your underwear. If you wear underwear that blocks the scanners, the contents will likely have to be viewed with the naked eye to make sure you’re not augmenting your package with a detonator, or padding your d-cups with plastic explosives.
If the policy is to check inside your underwear ... blocking the scanners won’t help.
The only solution is the one that won’t be discussed. Profiling.

How about my silver lamé Zoot Suit? Aw,,,, they’d probably arrest me as a crime of fashion!
Barium Sulfate is your friend.
I don’t care so much about someone seeing my junk — it is getting 100 XRays a freaking year!
