This annoys the hell out of me, because I'm not some rabid Palinista. Crap like this from Barbara Bush leaves one no alternative but to respond to it. What, does she have another son, or a grand kid lined up for the job of President? Reagan handed your husband his, despite some misgivings, and he blew it, Barbara.
And as much as I supported her husband and her son while they were in office, they've hardly gotten us to a great place. Guess what? If not for 9/11, GW may well have been a one-term-er, just like his father. He barely escaped losing to John freaking Kerry. In fact, he barely defeated Gore in 2000. So, just how wise is this new found Bush wisdom? I don't see much in the record to support it, short of the political calculations of some consultants concerned more with winning elections, than the nation's politics.
"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Barbara Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Bush, along with her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, spoke to CNN's Larry King in an interview set to air Monday.
President Bush discussed the Tea Party movement, and although he said "some of the ideas make a lot of sense," he said he isn't sure how the new movement will fit into the larger political landscape.
Read my lips, the same can be said for the price of bread and broken tax pledges.
And as for Mona Charen's, Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run item at Townhall, congrats Mona, you finally found something to write about and make yourself relevant, again. I can't recall anything you've done in the last two years that's generated any real interest outside the usual Beltway set you write for. If Sarah Palin has a secret weapon, it's how distasteful and classless are so many of the GOP establishment types lined-up against her. If they were nearly as smart as they fancy themselves to be, they'd probably just shut-up and let the chips fall where they may.
Exactly. Sarah saved the gop almost single handily and these vultures like the bushes still attack her?
Screw that. Bush is no different than clinton or obama to me at this point, just a little more presentable.
RINOS HATE Sarah Palin.. Barb is fat and horny.. and UNpretty..
Yep. Old rivals never fade away.
Barbara Bush? Is that silver spoon, Eastern Establishment old Baby Killer still alive? Maybe she just wants to be noticed.
No more Bushes ! In fact, no more establishment candidates for GOP tickets ! Reagan was not establishment and he was a breath of fresh air. I know d@mn well Bush Sr tried to shut him up ! Bush Sr also blew the Reagan legacy !
My husband lived next door in Greenwich to Dorothy and Senator Bush. Mother-in-law took Dorothy to court over raking her leaves onto her property and won. When she voted for Papa Bush she said, “ Amazing how well he turned out considering the terrible parents he had” That was her last vote at 99.
Since she and HW are so danged old, it’s best they keep on the “reservation” and avoid making those senile comments.
Once public figures reach a certain age - say 80 - they shouldn’t be interviewed, quoted etc.- at least about politics.
Just think we would be spared the pontifications of Jimmy if only that were true.
Makes it less about a "little tacky" remark from an "old" person.
True, but the other side of the coin is an unwillingness to see flaws in Palin.
If you think Sarah's the anointed one who'll set everything right you'll read more into Bab's remarks than people who have questions or doubts about Palin will.
Take both sides into account -- Barbara's establishment background and personality on the one hand and doubts about Sarah and her temperament on the other -- and the controversy starts to look more about an old lady's catty remarks than about political Armageddon.
How pathetic that Jeb needs mommy to insult his rival for the presidency.
Waaahhhhhhh!!!!! Barbara Bush said something mean about St. Sarah, and Mr. Riehl's having an attack of the vapors!
The whole Bush family should shut up.
In deference to your age, Barb, just fade away into your estate in Kennebucport. No one cares what you think.
I’m going to W’s book signing Monday night. Pretty pumped.
Its time to realize that for 8 years conservatives defended this man but we didnt do it because we supported his liberal policies but because he was our commander and chief in a time of war.
His domestic policies were radical left in many ways along with many people in his administration.
Many of people on our side are so used to defending him against the left that they have gotten emotional attached to a president who laid down to the liberals because he was deep down one of them when it came to economic policy...
Minus the tax cuts he was a democrat which today makes you a radical.
You go ahead and do that. Still, it makes you look no better than the people that tell our side to shut up.
Either you believe in the right to free speech, or you don’t.
There is no reason that you have to agree with her, but she has a right to say it.
Yes, we would like her to be quiet. But...why act like the other side.
Just use your right of free speech to refute what she says.
Bingo. Any advice from the Bushes makes me want to do the opposite.
Will all of you Bushes go away - you are making my hair hurt.
