This annoys the hell out of me, because I'm not some rabid Palinista. Crap like this from Barbara Bush leaves one no alternative but to respond to it. What, does she have another son, or a grand kid lined up for the job of President? Reagan handed your husband his, despite some misgivings, and he blew it, Barbara.
And as much as I supported her husband and her son while they were in office, they've hardly gotten us to a great place. Guess what? If not for 9/11, GW may well have been a one-term-er, just like his father. He barely escaped losing to John freaking Kerry. In fact, he barely defeated Gore in 2000. So, just how wise is this new found Bush wisdom? I don't see much in the record to support it, short of the political calculations of some consultants concerned more with winning elections, than the nation's politics.
"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Barbara Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Bush, along with her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, spoke to CNN's Larry King in an interview set to air Monday.
President Bush discussed the Tea Party movement, and although he said "some of the ideas make a lot of sense," he said he isn't sure how the new movement will fit into the larger political landscape.
Read my lips, the same can be said for the price of bread and broken tax pledges.
And as for Mona Charen's, Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run item at Townhall, congrats Mona, you finally found something to write about and make yourself relevant, again. I can't recall anything you've done in the last two years that's generated any real interest outside the usual Beltway set you write for. If Sarah Palin has a secret weapon, it's how distasteful and classless are so many of the GOP establishment types lined-up against her. If they were nearly as smart as they fancy themselves to be, they'd probably just shut-up and let the chips fall where they may.
Bar remembers the damage 3rd party candidates can do.
Besides, I never did like her husband. Too much of a milquetoast for my liking...
Mama Frizzly just wants her cub Jeb to have a shot at 2012. Darn it, it’s his turn! /sarc

I just don’t have any interest in the Bush family at this point.
Too many other things going on, events which threaten our liberty. Really they have nothing to do with the Bush family.
The Bushes, like them or hate them, are elitists, and yes, Barbara still wants to see her boy Jeb take his rightful place as president. He is, after all, the nice son who was groomed for it. How dare Palin or other non elitists threaten to take the White House away.
She's old, cut her some slack. Sheesh.
Pro-choice if I’m not mistaken.
Huh? Palin’s no third-partyer.
That was clearly a scripted sequence, with Babs all ready to damn by insulting praise, then get the Alaska digs in, while 41 sat silent.
I voted for Bushes four times and I’ll never vote for any more of them in my lifetime.
Isn’t this the same lady that covered Republicans with glory during Katrina, when she thought the folks were better off in a shelter, or some such nonsense?
The entire Republican ‘elite’ establishment is dead-set against Sarah Palin because she isn’t one of them, thank God. Those elitists abhor actual political conservatism and if anyone doubts this, look at the records of both Bush presidencies. Sarah Palin is proudly middle class; a practicing Christian and unabashedly conservative. This is anathema to RINOs like the mega-rich, Yale educated Bush family and those who hang with that crowd. Barbara Bush is just a rich old lady nattering about someone she doesn’t know or understand. Her opinion is irrelevant.
BUSH/OBAMA other than rhetorical sales pitching, i see little difference in substantive action
Never in my wildest dreams did I think things would descend to this point, but I swear, the name “Bush” has just about become as nausea-inducing as the name “Clinton” to me.
I agree. With all due respect, shut up about this Barbara. It’s the luke-warm, big government Republicans like your husband and son that contributed to the huge mess we are in today. If Palin wants to run more power to her. I hope we have a great field of candidates to choose from unlike 2008. I do know that I don’t want Romney, Huckabee, and certainly not Jeb Bush. We’ve tried Bushes twice and you can count on them to always let you down.
Clinton is their adopted son you know. They have more praise for Bill Clinton than they do for a conservative. What does that tell you?
No to political dynasties, no to anybody who’s for amnesty for illegal immigrants, and no to RINOS!
In his book, George W Bush relates that when he announced that he supported a Palestinian State but will not deal with their then leader the terrorist Yasser Arafat, his mother called him and sarcastically referred to him as “the first Jewish President”.
George Bush the father, was hostile toward Israel. This story evidences proof - to anyone deaf and dumb- that both husband and wife share an elitist county club type anti-semitism.
I can’t argue with anyone whose opinion is that Barbara Bush should shut the **** up.
That would be pretty selective memory, considering it was her husband's breaking of the central promise of his campaign to be President that led to a significant third party challenge in '92.
If he'd have read his own lips, Clinton would have been nothing more than a footnote in the books.
