I just got off the phone with an acquaintance that works at one of those annual fee rooms at airports that allow you to enjoy free drinks, wifi and snacks while you wait for your site and he told me a VERY interesting event that happened yesterday. And remember, you have to get through security to be in these rooms. They are near the gates:
A mousy, sweet woman came up to the counter and asked if they had storage lockers. The employee behind the counter told her that they dont, but there were places to store things by baggage claim. The woman asked if that meant she had to go back through security. The employee said yes. The woman really did not want to do that (they had given her the full monty), but wondered if there was somewhere in the room where she could store her GUN. And then she pulled a pistol, fully loaded, out of her purse, as you would pull any pedestrian item out of your purse.
Yep, the lady sent her purse through the machine, then she got the full patdown, and then she gathered her purse and went on to board her plane, stopping along the way to see if there were somewhere she could store her gun.
BTW, yes, they called port police and it was a big deal, with interviews, etc. But the lady was able to make a later flight without the gun.
This was SeaTac airport.
Duh. Site=Plane
Well then.
Maybe she should have just kept it with her.
That explains it right there.
She woulda been better off going back thru security.
Wow! They’re alert, eh?
I’ve wondered if people get through with stuff of this type:
http://www.amazon.com/Master-Cutlery-Burl-Wood-Knife/dp/B003HORRXY/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1290042118&sr=8-14
Reminds me of some pop culture icon (I think it was Eminem) who said, I’m paraphrasing, “How is it that I have to be patted down in America and get a real gun through security but I can’t get a plastic pellet gun through customs in London?”
Glad we have those Federal professionals at TSA protecting us...
Just think what would have happened if she had been detained, patted-down, scanned and forced to open her purse?
I’m going to wait to see this sourced from a major media outlet before I believe it. No offense.
>>Maybe she should have just kept it with her.<<
She didn’t seem to fully understand the gravity of what she had done. It is as if she thought that it was ok to bring it to security but you just couldn’t bring it on the plane. You’d be surprised how many people really don’t think about this with a “law enforcement perspective”.
More real evidence that TSA sucks at their job.
Frankly, I think the local news needs to pick up on this sort of thing. Because I am only once removed from this, I believe it. If I were reading this thread, it would be hard to believe.
The ramifications, in our current environment, are HUGE and should not be ignored.
The port police were called and it was a very big deal. This is not a secret event. It would sure make great copy for the evening news, not to mention the local rags. In a normal world they would jump on it. It will be interesting to see what happens. Maybe they will jump on it.
But if they don’t, it will speak volumes.
I don’t blame you. See my post 14.
“And remember, you have to get through security to be in these rooms. They are near the gates”.
Not necessarily, depends on the location. There are airports where the employes who work at sites beyond security do not go through security at all. These people still have direct or indirect access to aircraft. Who’s checking on what they may bring to work with them?? NOBODY!
I bet it was a Glock.
>.Not necessarily, depends on the location. <<
I agree. But I know this location and have been in it many times. It is on the secured side.
The TSA agents on duty were too busy looking at nude pics and groping nuns, children, senior citizens and small children to notice the gun in this lady’s purse. They must have their priorities, ya’ know!
Awesome,I fly out of there in 3weeks
