Say 'I Opt Out' of Airport Scanners on National Opt Out Day, November 24
Airport Business News ^ | 11-15-10 | AirportBusiness.com

"Not only are these porno scanners a gross violation of individual privacy," said boycott co-founder George Donnelly, "they're also a threat to the health of millions of passengers and ineffective as well. The goal of the demonstrations is to urge Americans to exercise their legal right to 'opt out' of the scan."

If you have to fly on November 24, We Won't Fly urges you to opt out of the new scanners for your own health and privacy. Say "I opt out!" Be prepared for delays and intimate TSA "patdowns." If you're not flying on November 24, We Won't Fly urges you to tell your friends, family and community members who are flying. Organizers of local meetups can list their events on our nationwide map at http://WeWontFly.com/opt-out-day.

As University of California scientists noted earlier this year, the airport scanners may pose a serious health risk. "Our overriding concern is the extent to which the safety of this scanning device has been adequately demonstrated. This can only be determined by a meeting of an impartial panel of experts that would include medical physicists and radiation biologists at which all of the available relevant data is reviewed," they said in a letter of concern.

I am sure there are decent TSA employees who are just as uncomfortable as we are and are just following orders.

However, they are following unconstitutional orders. A specific court order is needed to do what they are doing. There is none, because there is no reasonable cause to search someone like me and not someone whose very religious beliefs permit them to kill people who do not share their beliefs.

I give you the “WHO” part. That has been my issue for about many years now.

Seems that chuzzlewit has probably had the same issue for many years now, as you do.

It must be that others can't see that is what he (she?) is getting at.

Seriously though. Have you read the disclaimers and riders going up on FR lately? It pretty much says there are indeed some areas which are not up for debate on FR, lest ye be zotted.

It is what it is I guess. It goes along with trying to lure lots of young, generally liberal new facebook people to FR. 300,000 people in the echo chamber not enough!

I think it is how chuzzlewit worded it in his post, and to some degree me.

Most people are focused on the molestation, which for the most part is awakening a sleeping public.

My focus is on the unconstitionality and where the acceptance of this will progress to.

No, I do not care to be molested, nor have my spouse or children molested. As I have stated, many TSA agents did not bargain for this part of their job either. They may be just as uncomfortable as we are.

We need to demand equal protection, and demand that it be done properly within the framework of the Constitution. Who knows, maybe this will educate a TSA agent or two about their own inalienable rights.

The fear of terrorism has been used against us to reliquish our rights.

Of course, CW still has not defined is line in the sand. :-)

And cut-n-paste at that.

I have been putting the following on most of the TSA threads. I cut and paste it.

Am I a troll?

-------------------------

Here are my ‘rules’ that would work much better in finding weapons, bombs, and contraband.

If you can’t read this, we’ll probably search you.
If you are not American, we’ll probably search you.
If you act like you are hiding something, we’ll probably search you.
If you won’t look us in the eyes, we’ll probably search you.
If you look like you are drunk, or act disorderly, we’ll probably search you.
If you look like you are on drugs, we’ll probably search you.
If the dogs bark, we’ll probably search you.
If you are freshly shaved (everywhere), just got back from a strip club, and keep chanting Allah Akbar, we’ll probably search you.
If you interfere with the flight of the plane in any way, we’ll probably shoot you.
And yes, the entire crew is armed.

Have a nice flight.

Wave the bloody shirt of September 11th. The terrorists are probably laughing their asses off at the stupid Americans and their so-called security.

Because 19 radical Muslims attacked our country, 300 million AMERICANS have to give up their rights, liberties, and dignities? Bullcrap.

It’s all for show anyway. A bomb up the anus or vagina won’t be detected by these nude-o-scopes. Also, God knows what is being shipped in the cargo hold.

Also, it was legal to bring box cutters on board the plane on September 11, 2001. Meanwhile, the brain-dead TSA has made it next to impossible for the pilots to arm themselves.

Is Chuzzlewit Peter Johnson? Or some other pro-feel up, airport scanner supporter?

How many other threads have you posted the same commentary on?

Is that against FR rules?

If it is, there are about 20 LONG TERM FREEPERS that violate it. (including me)

Call it what you want.

I have to go through no fewer than 3 security checks when I go to work every day.

I don’t feel like my rights, liberties or dignities are forfieted.

I feel a deal of ease and safety knowing that if a terrorist wants to drive on post and blow us all up, he or she will have to figure out a better way to do it.

I know that myself and my 1500 co-workers and the cadets that we work for everyday consider ourselves to be stupid Americans.

Do you not agree that searching AMERICAN CITIZENS (babies, nuns, men in wheelchairs, and very young girls and boys )instead of foreigners with outdated visas who are sweating profusely, is not only CHILDISH, but very STUPID ?

Ain’t no law in no land gonna come b/t me and my child in that regard.

Unless you get pulled over by the COPS and they have reasonable suspicion.

The issue is that this normally doesn't happen to you when out DRIVING, because the cops don't have a RANDOM PULLOVER without reasonable suspicion where they are allowed to then legally search you.

If we only searched those who failed to convince the 'properly trained agents' or dogs, we wouldn't have 3-year old American girls being searched.

BUT, we can't use DOGS at the airports anymore, because it 'offends' the terrorist's religion.

That is the root of the problem, not the extent they go to during a search.

Civilian airports are not military installations.

A few years ago, I walked into a federal building in Bangor, Maine. They had a walk through metal detector (WTMD). I had to place my change and keys in a small dish, then walk through. There were two security guards. I didn’t have to take off my parka, there was no wanding, no pat-down, no x-ray scanners, except for brief cases, no shoe removal, etc. It reminded me of airline travel in the 1970’s. Simple as pie.

I heard Obama is allowing 80,000 Muslims to move to America next year. Is anyone vetting them?
