Tiger Woods: How I’ve Redefined Victory

Last November, everything I thought I knew about myself changed abruptly, and what others perceived about me shifted, too. I had been conducting my personal life in an artificial way—as if detached from the values my upbringing had taught, and that I should have embraced.

The physical pain from that car accident has long healed. But the pain in my soul is more complex and unsettling; it has been far more difficult to ease—and to understand. But this much is obvious now: my life was out of balance, and my priorities were out of order. I made terrible choices and repeated mistakes. I hurt the people whom I loved the most. And even beyond accepting the consequences and responsibility, there is the ongoing struggle to learn from my failings.

Yeah based on past history with Woods we know everything is for PR purposes. This time is no different I’m sure.

” It made me think that if I was successful in golf, then I was invincible. “

Sounds to me like what he is saying is the only thing he really regrets is getting caught.

Typical of our day & age. No absolutes, what is right is what you want.

He never sounds believable to me. There’s always something in his words that make me feel as though he’s not sincere. That it’s all for image purposes. Like posting on twitter. I just can’t see Tiger enjoying posting on twitter.

Talk is cheap, especially at the Newsweek website. Tiger’s a proven liar, and he’s going to have to show he’s changed for the better rather than just say it.

Golf’s tan man sounds remarkably like our tan president. Both would find silence golden.

Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver.

I’ll read Howie Kurtz’ stuff every once in a while, but that’s about it.

Just curious as to why he is doing this now.....

Looks to me like a message to his ex-wife.

Anyone who compares Tiger to Obama hasn't a clue.

“You redefine victory as not making cuts?”

Indeed. Tiger is redefining victory as losing. That’s a whole hell of a lot easier than actually winning. Tiger’s, now just one more loser defining himself as a winner.

I saw that on a t-shirt months ago and the right time hasn’t come up to dust it off and use it until now :)

The only thing he can get now is a blow up doll

Manhattan has some mega beautiful women on the prowl for famous rich men. That's why rich men move there as Tiger Woods recently did. He's probably moved on from flings with white trash, but he is never going to get back all that he once had.

Good for him. It sounds like he’s discovered humility, not a bad thing for anyone. I wish our dear leader would take a lesson.

Sounds like he found a good PR guy! If he really meant what he says (see below) he would give up his golf to spend more time with his kids.

"Giving my son, Charlie, a bath, for example, beats chipping another bucket of balls. Making mac and cheese for him and his sister, Sam, is better than dining in any restaurant. Sharing a laugh watching cartoons or reading a book beats channel-surfing alone. Some nights now, it’s just me and the kids, an experience that’s both trying and rewarding. Probably like the experience a lot of families have every evening around the world."
