Joe Scarborough has a decidedly cynical take on Sarah Palin's public musings about the possibility of a 2012 presidential run. The Morning Joe host asserts that Palin knows she can't win and won't run.
According to Scarborough, Palin is in it for the money, and is engaging in open speculation about a run for the mercenary purpose of keeping her brand alive.
Joe offered his jaded view on today's Morning Joe after the show aired a clip of Palin telling Barbara Walters that she believed she could defeat Pres. Obama.

I don't think her enemies would have given a damn had she been bankrupted and politically ruined at the end of her term. You think the media or her enemies would have said "Palin stuck in there, good for her! She's a fighter!" No, they wouldn't.
So go ahead and carry the false narrative, I really don't care. I know that I and other supporters of Palin know the real story.
Hold your fire! :-)
“If the public perception of her is negative, she will lose”
I nominate this for asinine post of the week.
You do realize that perceptions change? It’s a little early to make such broad based prognostications.
My bad then. It’s just frustrating watching otherwise intelligent FReepers soak up this meme that she’s a quitter and automatically disqualified from office without researching and getting the facts.
Mrs. Palin, we already know what it took to get you to quit as governor...what would it take to get you to quit as President?
You'd be a fool to think that the MSM would take any other approach.
You present a false choice that is commonly expressed on this board. That is, “I support this or that flawed, inexperienced and dim candidate because he or she shares the same views as I do on a short list of political and social issues and appeals to my populist instincts.” This is the sentiment that gave us Miller, Angle, O'Donnell and the gubernatorial candidate in New York whose name I've already forgotten. Sorry, inexperienced naifs like these should not begin their careers running for some of the highest offices in the land. They have to prove their executive, legislative and political skills at lower levels first and upon demonstrating their abilities, they can reasonably stand for the office of senator, governor or president. Palin has demonstrated a measure of natural political talent, but she has not demonstrated any particular executive skill, technical competency or mastery of legislation and policy. Frankly, she's not all that bright. She also is very divisive. A significant percentage of independent voters don't care for her and will not vote for her for president. Can she overcome Obama? Perhaps, but the odds are extremly long.
More importantly, the GOP has a deep bench of authentic conservatives on Capitol Hill and in state capitals that could make outstanding candidates. The list includes Gov. Mitch Daniels, Jindal, Pawlenty, Barber, Thune, Ryan, Petreus, Pence and Christie. Potential running mates include Bolton, Rubio and Brown who would provide excellent regional balance to the ticket and with Bolton foreign policy strength. The moral of the story is that we don't need a dim celebrity on the ticket. We can have a conservative / libertarian leader who also demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the issues, executive leadership capability and proven political skills and technical mastery.
Palin is stronger mentally and politically than O'Donnell. But she isn't any more qualified for the office she seeks than O'Donnell was. With Palin at the head of the ticket, the GOP once again will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, a complete unforced error. This isn't Tiger Beat. The country is in peril and we need a serious champion to do battle for us. I hate to break it to the fanboys and fangirls on this board: Sarah Palin is not that person.
A good example of the kind of Stupid Party crap that the RINOpublicans got right back into after winning the 2010 elections was voting enmasse for the Bankster Bailout bill on Wednesday (HR 3808, Interstate Recognition of Notarizations Act of 2010).
BTW - I didn't vote for McCain in 2008, I voted for Palin - and as a matter of fact, I was going to sit out the election before she was selected. And I'm a longtime activist.
The MSM will be toast by the fall of 2012.
Ah, I see you are not actually in touch with reality. Have a nice life.
another instant classic! kudos and thanks for your effort
LOL! You probably think that your little politics thingee is what I'm referring to.
What's going to destroy the MSM before the 2012 election is Economics. The MSM backed the wrong pony, and people are going to wise up by the end of 2011, when they're standing in the souplines wondering how come the newspapers & the evening news didn't warn them about this little problem.
Vote for whomever you please, but if the majority of conservative voters follow the course you've set, be prepared to enjoy another four years of President Obama, at least one and perhaps two new whack-job, pro-death Supreme Court justices and an economy in smoking ruins. This is the kind of thinking that gave us four years of Sen. Coons (DE / Marxist) and six more years of Sen. Harry Reid. WE CAN'T AFFORD ANYMORE OF THIS UNSERIOUSNESS. We need to nominate serious candidates who can lead, teach and execute. The country and our collective well-being is at stake. Sarah Palin needs to stick to reality TV and salmon fishing. She does not have what it takes to get this country out of the mess it is in. Full stop.
The Banksters own the government, Democrat or Republican. We need to prosecute the fraud. Politics is a waste of time, unless you're supporting people who might actually not be bought, like Sarah Palin.
We get it, you're more intelligent and far more mature than those who support Sarah.
I'll support any candidate for President who is a true conservative and has the record to prove it. But Sarah has done great good for our cause, she should be taken seriously and given due respect. And the people should be allowed to make up their mind about whether she is "presidential material", not the elites of the Republican party who want Sarah silenced, and would prefer Mitt Romney or some other RINO to be the nominee.
