The penalties are harsh. He gets a strongly worded rebuke on the House Floor but much worse he will be banned for life from getting seconds on lasagna day at the cafeteria. Also he will be limited to only the choice of vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream flavors. Absolutely no Rocky Road.

Does it have to do with the balance of power — the Executive branch has limited powers over the Legislative branch?

so why isnt he being arrested. Because as chairman of the committee that oversees the IRS he has been the best friend the IRS has ever had. His predecessor, Dan Rostinkowski also cheated on his taxes, resigned in disgrace, and was never prosecuted.

Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren, a Democrat from California, announced the panels findings just before noon. All the sweeter!

Out of solidarity for the oppressed Rangel, I am considering understating my income and paying less taxes this year.

So now are they going to expel him ? or they going to sigh and say now that’s over let’s get back to business!
I think they went after him so that the Republicans wouldn’t have it to do later and expel him. Better now when they can say “Naughty! Naughty!” and send him back to his seat.

Democrats don’t pay taxes. I think it’s in the Constitution or something.

Such investigations are merely dog and pony shows. Now they can say that they took action when in fact, nothing was really done.

Just think about the “Idiots” that elected him again! LOL
Same thing happened with the presidency in 2008. Just more Idiots then! Just saying..

He will be sentenced to zero workload at 100% pay forever.
Dismissed.

If he’s censured, he has to stand in the well of the Hosue, in front of his colleagues, while the resolution of censure is read. In addition, there’s considerable thought that the committee may recommend that he be stripped of his seniority, and removed from Ways & Means..The problem for Charlie, and also for the Dems, though from different perspectives, is that fellow CBC member Maxine Waters is up next, and if you thoguth that ole Charlie’s song and dance in front of the committee was, say a 6.3..wait until mad Maxie gets going..

I though Rostinkowski DID spend some time in the slam That was for mail fraud charges having to do with the House banking scandal. He only served a few months. Then Clinton pardoned him.
The IRS never touched him, even though he had been keeping ghost employees on his payroll for years. He was their buddy.

Yes why isn’t he? Then of course geithner didn’t pay taxes either and he wasn’t charged I guess the law is only for the regular people.

The Democrats are impressed with how Rangel can flaunt the law and get away with it. These dictators are laughing at the people. The system favors lawbreakers. That is why the Rats want more illegal aliens voting. Amnesty for lawbreakers and oppression of the righteous citizens is the Democrats way.
