The three-alarm blaze that caused $1.1 million in damage to a warehouse filled with rock legend Neil Young's music equipment and memorabilia appears to have started in a one-of-a-kind hybrid car stored at the site, a fire official said Monday.
Flames began in a 1959 Lincoln Continental dubbed LincVolt, which runs on electric batteries and a biodiesel-powered generator, and then spread to the warehouse at 593 Quarry Road in the early morning of Nov. 9, according to Belmont-San Carlos Fire Marshal Jim Palisi and a website devoted to the car.
Young assembled a team of workers in 2008 to convert the 19.5-foot behemoth from gasoline to hybrid power, an effort he chronicled in a four-part film series.

The website speaks of the ‘super safe lithium ion phosphate battery’ :)
Undoubtedly the carbon released in the fire far exceeds what I, and everyone else on this thread, will spew in a lifetime.
Hmm, well I could have sworn the song dated from that
LP.
I hope Neil Young will remember, a Southern man don’t need him (an any of his stupid memorabilia) around anyhow.
“Think I’ll pack it in and...buy a pickup...”
A neighbor had a Model T, beautifully restored. His kid was playing with gas in the garage, poured some on the floor, and lit it. When it flared up, he dropped the can and ran. Good by garage and Model T.
They saved about 70% of his stuff.
I have only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire

Don’t Let It Bring You Down.
“Thats pretty cool. Youre dreams must be Peyote based.”
Nah. I just like Rat Rods,,, and that’s about as Ratty as they come. My first car, almost 50 years ago was a ‘29 Oakland sedan. My Dad figured it’s be pretty safe,,, and slow!
Peyote? I’d never take somethin’ that made you puke! Lotta friends did though. And they all puked.
What a waste of capital and time from someone who has the Capital to do so.
I will never understand the Liberal, or former drugged out Liberal Mind....
Somebody booked him at a club I worked at in Dallas in the ‘80s. Nice guy, but they stopped the show when he lit his stovepipe hat on fire indoors.
Not to be mean but this has to be the worst thing tht could ever happen to a lib like Young. His Enviroweenie machine killed all of his memorabilia of his life...there has to be a metafore in there somewhere?
Blue Oyster Cult said it best: "History shows again and again how nature points up the folly of man..."
Was that WRONG?
Because... ...when I signed up for this gig no one TOLD me I was not supposed to light my hat on fire on-stage...
