Rangel Used PAC Money for Legal Defense
New York Post via Fox News ^ | 14 November 2010

Congressman Charles Rangel, whose ethics trial starts tomorrow, appears to have improperly used political-action committee money to pay for his defense.

Rangel tapped his National Leadership PAC for $293,000 to pay his main legal-defense team this year. He took another $100,000 from the PAC in 2009 to pay lawyer Lanny Davis. Two legal experts told The Post such spending is against House rules. "It's a breach of congressional ethics," one campaign-finance lawyer said.

Washington, DC, political lawyer Cleta Mitchell said there is "no authority for a member to use leadership PAC funds as a slush fund to pay for personal or official expenses." Leadership PACs are typically used by politicians to donate money to other candidates.

Why do we let “lawmakers” get away with breaking the law and not pay a penalty by going to jail? If this were any of us, we’d be 1) FIRED FROM OUR JOB and 2) Doing Jail time!

Federal government ran amok over the years because we did not pay attention to what they were doing.

Let this be a lesson to all of us — Government is NOT your friend.

Rangel, whose ethics trial starts tomorrow, appears to have improperly used... his National Leadership PAC... $293,000 to pay his main legal-defense team this year. He took another $100,000 from the PAC in 2009 to pay lawyer Lanny Davis. Two legal experts told The Post such spending is against House rules. "It's a breach of congressional ethics," one campaign-finance lawyer said.
So, just to recap, Rangel violated congressional ethics to pay lawyers to defend him in his congressional ethics 'trial'. I'm sure this is going to go well. I'd guess that Zero is going to seize on this trial, coming out swinging the race card, because he got his skinny half-white ass handed to him in the election. Thanks Racehorse.

So he’s breaking ethics rules to defend himself against charges of breaking ethics rules?

Brilliant!

Why do we let “lawmakers” get away with breaking the law...

In this particular case, Rangel did not "break" a law AFAIK. What he is accused of doing is unethical, not illegal. A slap on the wrist, a reinstatement of his chairmanship (for two weeks) and told not to do it again. This is all that will come of the show.

princess, you are not an old black guy.
That makes ALL the difference in the world in this case.
Were Rangel a white conservative pubbie he’d have been run out of there years ago.

Huffington Post, and the far left rags...you haven’t visited any of those sites have you? Roflmto, they are all about that stupid, and would support Rangel.
