There might not have been a second round of quantitative easing, if Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke shopped at Walmart.
A new pricing survey of products sold at the worlds largest retailer [ WMT 54.13 -0.21 (-0.39%) ] showed a 0.6 percent price increase in just the last two months, according to MKM Partners. At that rate, prices would be close to four percent higher a year from now, double the Feds mandate.
The inaugural price survey shows a small, but meaningful increase on an 86-item grocery basket, said Patrick McKeever, MKM Partners analyst, in a note. Most of the items McKeever chose to track were every day items like food and detergent and made by national brands.
On November 3, the Fed announced its much-anticipated purchase of $600 billion in Treasury securities. An effort to keep market rates low since the central banks benchmark rate is already at zero. The Federal Open Market Committees statement said, Currently, the unemployment rate is elevated, and measures of underlying inflation are somewhat low, relative to levels that the Committee judges to be consistent, over the longer run, with its dual mandate.

Many of them would also capitalize the first word in a
sentence and even more would capitalize "Americans"...
Just sayin'...
actually many have keyboard problems where the cap and shift button is stuck at times but alas people like you don’t have any problems and nitpick all the time. just saying
Interesting.
Usually it's laziness and apathy. But you have a keyboard problem.
Gotcha.
Gas is up to $3.75/gal in the midwest.
Gas goes up, cost of food goes up.
The rises seen so far are the first fluff of snow.
There is an avalanche coming behind it.
At least he didn’t use “american’s” and “fed’s” like most people do these days.
I am very thankful that I built our hobby farm several years back so that I can grow a good amount of our food.
I hope that inflation doesn't hit this country to hard...but it doesn't look good.
Stop being an ass
But, apparently it wasn't "real" till Palin said it.
I do some shopping at Walmart I wish they would have paid me
The large can of Coffee went up $1, my yogurt up 8 cents a carton, bread up 25 cents.. ..That was just the few things I was picking up.. I was afraid to look further

Another clown looking for attention
Secret Survey? I could have told them prices at Walmart were going up....ummmm, maybe a year back or longer? I shop there, either weekly or once every 2 weeks......I noticed in the beginning prices were “easing upwards”...a penny, nickle or dime.....now it seems, they don’t even try to “mask” the increases. One week the price is $1....go back next week and the same item is $2....and it has shrunk in size. A lot of items have gone up quite a bit in a real short period of time. Especially grocery prices. Nothing new to me...............
I really pay attention to the sale papers......especially grocery prices. I think we are in for some tough times ahead.........
Another point of proof that the media is just as out of touch as Washington (or like to play the “unexpected” game a little too much).
Why did they need to do an undercover survey to figure out what is common sense to everyone? How frustrating. And, it’s not like it hasn’t been going up for a while already, either. This is not a ‘recent development’, although it is quickening.
But many of us stocked the freezer with inexpensive meat months ago, along with stocking a substantial dry pantry. We have enough to live on for a long, long time and so do many others. In the short term that is bad news because it means we won’t be buying much beyond fresh veggies and some dairy.
We harvest a kilo of fresh eggs every 3 days or so out of our micro-flock of 6 chickens, and my compost pile is full of leaves and cooking nicely, which will yield a bunch of fresh veggies next growing season.
The local ABC Pravda propaganda machine said that sales are up 3% which is great for Christmas. And that means the economy is recovering. One interviewee business owner even said this is going to be their best year ever! Oh praise to the Obama!
Ignore him, he’s just an old curmudgeon who doesn’t have anything better to do and wants the focus on himself.
