And pray tell - how are they going to pay for this year-end bribe to seniors?

But the electon is over. Why now? Unless it’s an attempt to triangulate the newbie Congresspeople.

Democrats to push for $250 Social Security payment

About the same effect as a fart in a hurricane, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...but not by much. Dear gubment, gimme da money!!

Put the $250 in perspective. It will NOT buy you two first class postage stamps a day for a year. Maybe a first class stamp and a postcard stamp a day but that’s all.

What a joke. How about if when a senior turns 75 they can finally stop paying school taxes. Property taxes are a huge strain on many seniors. Let the school teachers help pay for their benefits to fund this discount. In my state school teachers pay nothing for their health care, not for themselves or their families. Even if the spouse works and could get benefits from their work place they don’t because they can get it for free from their teacher spouse. And by 75 hasn’t a senior paid enough for public school teachers.

People on Social Security would rather see our country pulled back together than get a check for $250.00. That money will do nothing for them but put the country further in debt.

Another little known social security / Medicare issue. In 2009 the Medicare part B premium that seniors pay as their share of the Medicare insurance was $96.40 (for most people), in 2010 that premium was raised to $110.50, and in 2011 it will be set at $115.40. However those increases were not passed on to seniors because there was no social security COLA in 2010 or in 2011. If by chance there is a Social Security COLA in 2012, the first $19.00, plus what ever the 2012 increase is, will be immediately eaten by those premiums.

See old folks, the Democrats didn’t let you have your COLA but they will send you a check to make you love them.

When House Democrats return to Washington on Monday, a top priority will be putting a $250 dollar check in the mail to 58 million Social Security recipients.

The lame ducks have a majority in this session so they can do what ever. It doesn't matter because next session will have a new sheriff in town and Nancy is going to have to go sit in the broom closet.

$250 won’t even cover the increase in my electric bill.

Not to mention the increases in food and fuel.

These Democrat idiots are so friggin’ transparent! Do they really think some feel-good bribe will make up for their insane addiction to socialist nanny state-spending, combined with corporate welfare?

This is no time to increase welfare payments to the seniors. We should be reducing and phasing out Social Security welfare payments over a 3-5 year period.

the democrats, like most other congress critters, are trying to establish the exact worth of a voter's vote.

They know that corporations and labor unions require millions of dollars, if not billions.

So, in an attempt to reduce the spending necessary to stay in office they are attempting to see how much it would cost to buy the vote of individual voters. After all a million individual votes might not cost as much as a single corporation's or union's support. Why not give it a shot/

Sounds like another RAT Trap.

Such wonderful people, those bed-wetting liberals...when they are in charge - they want to send seniors to the death panels; when they're sucking wind, they want to give seniors a bonus.

Actually, they heard that seniors were a huge factor in slam-dunking their asses on November 2nd, and they're just trying to bribe, er, win them back again.

I would urge all seniors to use that money to find an different seniors organization to sign up with, and DUMP the AARP...they are NOT your friends.
But, it's what liberals do, and it does us more good than them...
