U.S. trial unlikely for 9/11 suspect Mohammed: report Sat Nov 13, 2:21 am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The self-proclaimed mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks probably will remain in military detention without trial for the foreseeable future, The Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing Obama administration officials.

The administration has concluded that it cannot put Khalid Sheikh Mohammed on trial in federal court in New York City because of opposition from members of Congress and local officials, the Post said.

There is also little support within the administration for a military prosecution at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, over concerns it would alienate liberal supporters, the paper reported.

Mohammed was captured in Pakistan in 2003 and has been imprisoned at Guantanamo.

The administration asserts that it can hold Mohammed and other accused al-Qaeda operatives under the laws of war, a principle that has been upheld by the courts when Guantanamo detainees have challenged their detention.

Why not let Yemen or Pakistan try him? Then everyone Obama cares about would be happy with the outcome. Can already see the cheering street crowds, etc., the ‘Behead America’ posters. It would boost Arabs’ self esteem — which Obama is so interested in — so what’s not to like?

This piece of garbage should be nine-years dead, his ashes wrapped in bacon in a glass case in the Oval Office so whenever the president is seen in the world media there is a painful, middle-finger-like reminder of what happens when Muslim vermin messes with the US.

Of course, we'd have to have a president for this to happen.

I know it's easy to talk tough from behind a keyboard, but I gotta say, if I were president I'd call a news conference, have this guy brought in, and say, "Now, watch closely," produce a pistol from behind the podium, and just wait long enough for this worm to renounce Allah if we will only show him mercy, and then splatter his head all over the MSNBC camera crew, live.

I think it would send more of a message than this d**king around for nine years, which the idiots in DC seem to think makes the world think we are nice, when all it does is show we are unwilling to defend our country at the most basic level--killing those who kill our people.

That the DOJ is coming out with talk about this means something else is going on behind the scenes they don’t want to know about. They brink this guy out once in a while to hide some other anti-American activity going on in the WH.

It’s a shame that since he’s “self-proclaimed” he should even need a trial. Just hang him and get it over.

Gee, wonder why no similar outrage regarding the Lockerbie bomber deal?

Hey, Schumer, how's that investigation you promised coming along?

(crickets)

Thanks Sub-Driver. Gosh, it's weird that this decision wasn't made until after the election. What a coincidence.

Why not just tie him to a light pole in the NYC financial district. Problem solved in a New York minute!

The terrorist must be tried in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred.

NY, PA, or D.C.

This ought to be interesting.

Cuomo said NOT in New York.

Wonder what Rendell will say. Probably YES

I’ll try him... GUILTY
Sentence: Death
30 - 44 hours more of water boarding just for fun.
Last Meal:
Shaved Pork BBQ Sandwich
Mashed Potato with Pork Gravy
40oz Malt Liqour
All served by a nude fat lady

Push him out of an aircraft at 30k’ no chute wrapped in bacon.

There was outrage over that. I must say though, it is hard to keep the deals straight- there have been so many. IIRC, there was something hinky with the USS Cole terrorist(s) too. The people he and his party are catering to have no desire to protect America. They really should not be given any consideration at all in the one necessary function of govt.

Now that the Reps control the House, they can hold oversight hearings on this issue and many more at DOJ. Holder and Obama know full well that trying to have a trial in NYC would cast a giant spotlight on these trials. Even Holder realizes that deferring any trial is the best thing to do politically.

I stood in the freezing rain last yeay in downtwon NYC at the protest over this thing.

It was dreary, freezing, cold, but I am convinced my little part, and those of many others in NYC that day helped put and end to this.

Debra Burlingame, Curtis sliwa, Malzberg, Peter King, Andy McCarthy, and many others spoke that day.

FFFFFUUUUBBBBOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
