The greedy politicians on the equally greedy limousine liberal arthur Blank want the taxpayers of Atlanta to foot the bill for a new stadium for the benefite of the sports team owners. WSB Radio is conduction a poll on the popularity of this idea. To get to the poll follow this link and look at the end of the paragraph on the superbowl story. there should be a link to the poll that says "WSB Poll" Click on the link and vote. Thanks
99% “no” i love it. bet they do it anyway.
...standard operating proceedure among NFL owners is to do whatever it takes to get public money....no matter how much it costs in the form of advertising/bribes/kickbacks ect. it’s worth it to them to do it...just watch...Arthur Blank will unleash a massive spending campaign to get this done....even if it’s voted down in a referendum, the Falcons will pay off city council to get it over turned.
I wish I didn’t know you’re right. Blank is a heavy contributor to liberal causes and liberal politicians. I’m sure somAtlanta politicians are of the “honest” sort (ie when bought stay bought) and will run roughshod over the taxpayers for the benefit of Blank and his cronies.
It’s time for government corruption and favoritism to end.
This is why I no longer watch professional sports. As much as I love to listen to Rush Limbaugh, his affection for the Steelers and the NFL is misguided. As a Pennsylvania taxpayer, I deeply resent the blackmailing of the state by the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh teams to get us to build them new stadiums.
Of course if Gov. Ridge had had any guts, he would have said, “Don’t let the door hit you on the ass.”
Study after study shows that building expensive sports stadiums does nothing to reverse urban decay.
Unfortunately, Nathan Deal our new “Republican” governor hasn’t even been sworn in and he’s already into this crap. His Democrap opponent would have been worse, but it’s still disappointing (but not surprising) that he’s wasted no time getting ready to stick it to the taxpayers for his rich buddy Blank.
Of course they will ignore the people.
Columbus Ohio turned down a bond issue to build the stadium that is currently used for ice hockey. They then claimed that the stadium was built with private funds.
Of course, this was a total and utter lie. Between massive tax abatements, guarantees and other government sleazy tricks, the stadium and surrounding area was built by Nationwide Insurance and “partners.”
NOBODY privately funds stadiums and they always lose money. It is a blatant wealth transfer from citizens to sports fans, restaurant/hotel/bar owners and politicians.
Hey it worked for Jerry Jones...and look how good they are!!
I gave up many years ago when I lived in Atlanta and followed the braves. They had a player named Bob Horner that came straight from college (did not play in the minors)He hurt his finger not long after arriving in Atlanta and refused to play. Later he was sent to the minors and refused to go.
No professional team has gotten one penny from me since then.
I do enjoy college football; however this Cam Newton situation may cause me to give up on sports altogether.
Thanks for pointing out this article and the poll. Add another “NO” vote to the list! If pro sports are supposed to be such great sources of revenue, they can pay for their own stadiums!
Excellent point! One I plan to use in my letter to that RINO Deal.
Doesn’t take much to get you riled up.
I voted no.
The Georgia Dome was built in 1992 so the stadium is 18 years old. How does its age compare with other NFL venues?
Blank has been trying to get a MLS soccer team franchise for Atlanta.
Atlanta is BROKE!!! Imagine that!
Great win for the Falcons last night, but NO here.
I don’t see why the teams shouldn’t pay for their own stadiums and cut the pay for their overgrown boys on the teams
Now there's a real money maker. /s
I believe Joe Robie stadium (don't know the new name) in Miami was built w/o taxpayer money.
The statists are starting to get our of bed. Now three percent are in favor of transferring wealth from the taxpayers to Arthur Blank - must be city “workers”
