So I'm watching Bill O'Reilly attempting to ask "tough" questions of former President George W. Bush. Two things come to mind:
1) George W. Bush is a hell of a lot smarter than most anybody gave him credit for. He may not speak well but this man is (and was) acutely aware of almost everything that was going on.
2) Bill O'Reilly doesn't listen to anything the people he interviews actually say.
Anybody else see this? I think it was nice to have Mr. Squishy put in his place by W.
We, also, have been pleasantly surprised to see how well President Bush responds on his feet..... what a 100% difference in what we see now in the wh.
I watched about 1 min. of it Bill O’reiley and I dont mix. But the part I saw he seemed to be tough or maybe even a little rude.
I believe BOR was listening this time. GW can handle himself.
O’Reilly , like Matt Lauer , is totally infatuated with his own persona and the promotion of the same .
Most definitely.
Obama can’t manage a full sentence without his teleprompter. Bush on the other hand seems to be totally in his element actually conversing with other humans.
so right.... such a difference in a person who is grounded or comfortable in his own skin..... such a difference.... not even getting into the other differences...
He’s always been good at that...I remember him wiping the floor with both Gore and Kerry in the debates. Just for some reason, he refused to come out and dispute the MSM as President.
I thought the interview was good in that it allowed us to see the “real” GWB, the personal side we only got an occasionaly glimpse of for over 8 years.
He is an interesting person because while born to wealth and political fame, he comes across with the personal charisma and down-home charm of a Sarah Palin. There just isn’t much “Ruling Class” about him, and he is clearly one who is guided by his principles and sleeps well at night knowing he gave it his best shot.
Too many of our national leaders study everything to death (remember that “nuance” thing, and the meaning of the word “is”?) Bush would probably happily adopt O’Reillys pet phrase “I am a simple man” - but in his case it would actually fit.

Bush was pure class, relaxed, yet quick on his feet.
W just explained why.
The camera lingered a moment on O'R's face. If you ever wanted to see an expression of pure hate, disdain and dismissal directed at someone, watch O'Reilly directing this look at Pres. Bush.
I hope everyone gets to take a gander at the interview on YouTube or sumpin'.....and watch for this stark, revealing moment.
It's something else, believe me.

I guess some did. I’ve never disputed his intelligence. I thought he won most of the debates he participated in. But his speaking style, well there seems to be a bias against it not just among liberals but conservatives. Someone with an accent and less then flowing words is slow in their eyes. One of my pet peeves. It’s one of the reasons people assumed Obama is a genius but he’s anything but. But in this country how you speak rather then what you say is valued more. They are doing the same thing to Rubio and he is actually intelligent. But they are in love with his prose. It’s maddening. That’s not why people should rally to him. I want people to show support for the right reasons.
O’Reilly tried to play “gotcha” and Bush knocked him around like a cat with a mouse. After the interview, O’Reilly claimed he was “tough” with Bush, but as another poster said, O’reilly never hears a word said by the people he interviews. What a moron.
To be quite honest, I think BOR is so full of himself, that we would not be able to see a Mack truck heading at him for a direct Head-on hit!
I loved the part when W said the office of the president itself is more important than anyone in it.
I thought, that’s got to leave a mark on O.
I always liked how he spoke to us...not at us.

I loved that. He can’t really be accused of talking O down but he just by stating the truth, the character weakness is exposed to the bone.
