Rep.-elect Allen West (R-Fla.) announced Thursday that a controversial radio host would not serve as his chief of staff after all.
West said in a statement that Joyce Kaufman, the conservative radio talk show host who he'd previously named to the top staff position in his office, would not be his chief of staff.
"It is with deep regret that this congressional office and the people of CD 22 will not have Joyce Kaufman as my chief of staff," West said in a statement. "Joyce is a good friend, and will remain loyal to South Floridians and to me. I will always seek Joyce's counsel for being a good representative of this congressional district."

Rush Limbaugh, instead?
Pelosi is garbage.
She is! Maybe one needed to be more delicate in introducing yourself to the masses, lol
You rock Joyce. Keep fighting the good fight.
I like West a lot, and my opinion of him hasn't changed, but I wish this whole thing hadn't happened.
“Pelosi is garbage.”
You are too kind. Garbage can be mulched and made useful. Pelosi is persistent toxic sludge.
Anyway, I bet some gray apparatchik in the GOP made this call, not the revenant from San Francisco.
There’s that “controversial” word again in the “press”. They must be talking about a conservative. I never see the left-stream media refer to anyone a liberal as “controversial”, not even Bill Ayers.
Joyce is a huge supporter of Israel; bless her for that.
Do we really want that kind of media glare from Day One? That just ain't going to work.
We need to all make a joke of “controversial” just as we have of “unexpectedly”.
Ted Rall was calling for violent revolution and killing Christians..... is he “controversial” yet??
dems do something stupid..they rally round the guilty...we do something stupid we cut and run like some wuss...what happened to mister bad a$$ army man..
Three of the biggest supporters of Geert Wilders are Savage, Pam Yellen and Joyce.
Joyce used to be a liberal but 9/11 changed her. I have a relative down there and they said Joyce was one of Allen West’s biggest supporters.
Ted Rall's a second-rate comic strip artist who's trying to raise his profile among lefty publications so that more of them will carry his strip - thereby raising his income - by making dog-whistle type comments that resonate with leftists. Kaufman was about to become a Congressman's chief of staff. I think it was a rotten idea to hire her for the spot to begin with - a successful talk show host caters to perhaps 5% of the listeners in a given area (much like Free Republic with respect to the nation at large), and can make all kinds of statements that resonate with her listeners that would sound kooky to a broader audience. The problem is that Allen West needs 51% of the electorate to vote for him, not Kaufman's 5% audience (or whatever the actual number is). West doesn't need any lightning rods on his staff.
That's because Ayers and his bomb-hag are not "liberal" by any stretch of the imagination. He once called for 25,000,000 American dead beneath the tank-tracks of the Left's revolution. Never blinked. Never apologized, retracted, modified or mollified that comment, either. That ain't liberal.
Those "progressives" are all little Stalinists.
So Rachel Maddow featured the clip of Joyce Kaufman on her show the other night. Maddow following her Soros duty to attempt to destroy Allen West.
More than likely, this is some left winger doing his/her best for Soros’ cause. Impersonate a conservative threatening Broward schools causing authorities to lockdown for hours.
Just what Glenn Beck is warning - if the conservatives don’t go violent, they’ll make it happen.
I haven’t been follwoing this on FR today, so excuse me if this has already been discussed.
The notion that a freshman legislator, with no committee to chair, has a staff big enough that it needs a Chief to run it is frankly part of the problem we have with the size of government.
Obama had sense enough to keep Ayers in his "kitchen cabinet" ..... some of the Communists he gave jobs are now under the bus. Wish Kagan was there, too, but you can't have everything, I guess.
Nice FR homepage, btw -- elegant. Think we've got the Three Kingdoms beat, though. Let's shoot for 500 years, and see if we can't go 1000, like the Byzantines.
They're still arguing for the Rosenbergs and Sacco and Vanzetti. Even with the Venona decrypts out proving the Rosenbergs were guilty as hell.
