Tea-Totaler (Scott Brown forgets who got him elected)

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown — a sometime Tea Party darling who’s been tagged as a potential 2012 target after the Bay State’s Democratic landslide in last week’s elections — yesterday downplayed the importance of the controversial conservative movement and its new foothold in Washington.

“I’m not sure who they are,” said Brown when asked about the election of senators with reported Tea Party ties. Brown said he’s known U.S. Sens.-elect Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Pat Toomey (R-Penn.) before the election and, “They don’t come and say, ‘Hey, I’m a Tea Party member.’ They come and say, ‘Hey, I’m a U.S. senator representing my state.’ ”

Brown dismissed the Tea Party’s influence on the U.S. Senate despite national claims that self-described Tea Party candidates such as U.S. Sen.-elect Rand Paul (R-Ky.) represented wins for the growing grass-roots movement.

“..There ARE conservatives in MA..”

Of that, I have no doubt; we ARE everywhere.

But...geez, a degenerate pervert polesmoker like Bawney Fwank gets elected...AGAIN...over a US MARINE veteran? I mean, WTF?

Libs should thank whatever version of a god (or gods) they believe in that we are patient and “tolerant” - to a point.

Boggles the mind.

When it said he may be targeted in 2012, I thought they meant targeted by US. What democrat party landslide in MA? I didn’t hear about that.

I read the article and there’s nothing wrong with what he said. He is smart, reasonable and has already learned that being a Senator is more about governing than about campaigning. There are a lot of Tea Party big mouths around claiming credit for more than they have actually accomplished.

My message to those newly elected reps and senators who claim to be more a product of Tea Party than of the Republican Party, “Shut up and govern!!”

Scott Brown said it much more nicely....

Incidentally, Rubio does not claim to be a Tea Party representative nor especially beholden to the TP base. He is a conservative Republican, and conservatives existed long before the current Tea Party emerged.

conservatives existed long before the current Tea Party emerged.

True that. We just need to get more of them to run for public office.

Scott Brown got elected through Tea Party donations.

This is such a ridiculous claim I won't even bother to LOL. The word went out via internet to support his campaign, the prize being "Ted Kennedy's seat" in the Senate and the one additional vote needed vs. socialized medicine. Individuals all over America responded. There wasn't a word of this being a "Tea Party" effort. Case closed.

Brown will be like Rep. Cao in New Orleans, doomed to defeat in the next election the minute he took office. People in MA will go Democrat in 2012 from top to bottom, just as they did in 2010. They are all so predictable.

Scott Brown is a smart politician - something you can't figure out on your own. In Massachusetts, he can't allow himself to be identified too closely to the Tea Party because if he did he would not get reelected in 2012.

Brown has a tough job in Massachusetts. If you noticed (but you probably did not), the WAVE on Nov. 2 missed the state of Massachusetts. All 10 seats sent 10 dems to the House and your governor was reelected.

Brown is the most popular politician in your state and you don't seem to appreciate the talent it takes to do that, do you?

As has been stated on this site incredibly often, Brown was never expected to vote conservative all the time. He can't do that in your state and get reelected.

Be thankful for what you have. You could have had Martha Coakley who would have voted liberal 100% of the time. Instead, you have a very smart politician who votes conservative most of the time - which is better than 0%.

I would like to think you understand this concept, but I doubt it.

You have the best you are ever going to get in Massachusetts. Be happy about that and appreciate it. You can get a lot worse - Martha and Teddy, as examples.

Are you still unhappy?

He has no shot if he runs as a conservative. It is Massachusetts people! Would you rather have Coakley?

Why is anyone surprised about this? He’s said from the beginning that he’s not a conservative, and his voting record supports his statement. He’s a Republican who votes with the Republicans over half the time. That’s the most that can be expected from him.

Exactly right! Swerving left isn’t going to save him.

Too bad others can’t see that. Oh well.

You’re 100% right.

I’m a realist, Jim DeMint/Jeff Sessions/the 2 US Senators from OK are not going to get elected in MA.

Brown did what he was elected to do - be the 41st vote against ObamaCare, period. That train left the station. Most likely he’s out in 2012, becoming more RINO-ish isn’t going to help him out. If it would help, then Bill Weld would have defeated Jon Cary in 1996.

So popular that they didn’t want anymore like him this election?

“Chris Christie also benefitted from the Tea Party movement, though I’ve never heard him admit it.”

He doesn’t have to say anything. He is just ‘full of does.’
Brown on the other hand has little to show for all his talk.

My message to Republicans is: stop talking about how much you love the tea party and just do what you are supposed to do.

The reality is that the tea partiers were used like a condom by the GOP. Now the condom is used and they are discarding it. Sleep with fleas and you get dogs..

SSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Some individuals don't like it when the truth is spoken (you're right, BTW - especially in this case of Scottie B.).

Some of the sh*thead comments I've had hurled at me make me think I'm on DU - like I wrote the article in the Herald or made him forget who got him elected.

Another weak sister. Also another short-termer. Brown has uniquely positioned himself to lose big next election.
