Elizabeth Smart continued testifying about her 2002 kidnapping Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City.
Smart began testifying Monday about her ordeal at the hands of Brian David Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee. She described how she was taken from her home in the middle of the night, forced to a campsite in the foothills above her home and held captive and raped repeatedly for several weeks.

I could not have served on that jury. After the first day of testimony I would have had an overpowering urge to leap from the jury box and bludgeon the defendant to death.
I agree about wanting to do bad to the defendant. But do you note how smart and intelligent Miss Smart is? Would make a parent proud.
There were many FReepers (I am sad to report) who had tried and convicted her father of conducting this kidnapping to cover up unspeakable crimes in their family. I scolded them at the time, and now they all need to apologize and perform penance somewhere for the evil things they said about Mr. & Mrs. Smart.
They never will, their hatred of all things and all people Mormon runs too deep.
while I agree with your post....many people have seen many cases where the parents go on TV crying, and we find out one of them have killed the child...We are getting more cynical all the time, sad to say.
I guess you are the real victim, huh?
You’re right, Arizona Carolyn.
Pray for Elizabeth Smart.
She is a beautiful, brave woman, whose innocent childhood was stolen from her, but thank God, she’s alive!
I openly wept and cheered the moment she was found.
A little girl was kidnapped and raped. What the hell does that have to do with, "their hatred of all things and all people Mormon"?
That remark was straight out of the gutter.
You missed a previous Elizabeth Smart thread. One post for certain was deleted. I know that for certain, because I am the one who hit abuse and I informed the Mormon hater.
The only testimony I need to see or hear, is Smart pointing to the guy and saying that’s the animal that kidnapped me and sexually abused me.
From that point on, the guy is toast as far as I am concerned.
They can’t execute the guy soon enough. And today, I’d imagine they can’t give him capital punishment for this anyway.
Hey, they’ve got a green light from me if anyone’s asking.
Mitchell should have been dirt a long time ago. Literally, not just figuratively.
If you have missed it, there is a cabal here that the hatred runs so deep there is no bounds of poor taste as far as they are concerned. I find it very sad, I am not that religion, but it bothers me what I’ve seen here and it certainly makes me re-think a lot of people who call themselves “Christian”....
I wasn’t speaking for myself, I saw the threads and the comments, they were disgusting... I don’t care what religion you call yourself they were disgusting.
Are you and AC trying to turn this thread into a Mormonism discussion thread? I thought the article was about a young woman who has rebounded from an horrific crime done to her and the trial of the perp.
Same here, onyx... it was a true miracle and really made you realize they do happen.
Your original post was and is nonsense, no one brought up Elizabeth Smart's religion but you. As another poster asked - Are you the "victim" here?
Name a hater. One, just one.
No, of course not. Read my comments. I replied to AZ Caroyln, Kennedy and afraidfortherepublic and then I answered graybeard58’s question.
Pray for Elizabeth Smart. She’s a very brave woman, whose innocent chiildhood was stolen from her, but thank God she’s alive.
The poster asked if the people who made all the vile comments about her would now apologize, I said they will not because of the basis of their remarks..... that was the truth, I followed all those threads and what I speak is what took place... and those people will never apologize.
