Sounds like Banana Republic numbers to me...and this for a woman who lost the primary? Does not pass the smell test IMHO.

But this article says that overseas and military ballots aren't due until November 17 (see text under the photos at left), and presumably won't be counted until then. Miller has to wait until then before doing anything.

Worse. Observers. The Democratic Party decided to observe the count just to make sure it goes smoothly, even though the battle is between Republicans Lisa Murkowski and Joe Miller.

Hmmm? Wonder who they’re rooting for?

if only 89% of the writes ins are valid so far and they have only counted less than 10% then she may be in trouble because the more they count, that percentage will probably drop not go up. If it gets to about 85% she’s finished

For weeks people made fun of how her name is spelled on this site and around the web and in Alaska because the law states you have to spell it correctly and fill out the oval. She ran commercials knowing this rule educating voters. She printed out bracelets with her name. She had the courts change the rules to allow printed out lists of write ins to be handed to voters at the polling area.

Yet when it comes to demanding the law be followed and the ballots be properly spelled and the oval filled in NOW we have people saying Miller should Conceed? What the hell is wrong with all of you? I give up. If conservatives don’t think the law should be followed then why even bother anymore. Forget primary challenges too. Clearly they are worthless since conservatives roll over dead.

Personally disgusted at a number of people right now.

There have been questions from the ballot observers about the criteria Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai is using to rule on the Miller campaign challenges of Murkowski ballots.

Here’s what Fenumiai told me:

“If I can pronounce the name by the way it’s spelled, that’s the standard I’m using.”

Not trying to be argumentative...

My reasoning is this. The other two main candidates were on the ballot. There were a lot of other names qualified as write-ins, but I think they were mainly there to add to the confusion. None of them other than Murky was projected to draw much support.

If a few of them got a few thousand votes, it would still be very easy for Murky to get the vast majority of the write-ins.

I agree that on a normal ballot, all names being listed, it would be impossible for someone to get 98% of the vote. But if we’re isolating this to just the write-ins, it could be very reasonable for a candidate to get almost every write-in vote, comparatively.

Maybe you or someone else can chime in and explain why I’m wrong. I might agree with you or them. At this point, I just don’t understand why you don’t think a popular write-in couldn’t get most of the write-ins.

I’m pretty sure Joe WILL destroy her with absentees.. military and people who can’t be bought off, minus the fraud.

Lisa and her lawyers thought this out pretty good.

We had some good math on another thread that cooks the Princess.

She needs 87.5% of the write-ins to win by 29 votes. But we still have the military to go...anyone know how many military votes there are??

There is just no way that only 2 percent of ballots would be spoiled, incorrectly completed, grossly misspelled, defective, or otherwise uncountable. That is just not within the margin of error, human error, for this kind of endeavor. Think about all the idiots in Florida who could not correctly complete a ballot in 2000 when we were new to this site. Sorry DO this level of accuracy is just not possible. Again, not saying Miller will win, not by any stretch of the imagination. It’s just that human error will not allow these kind of margins. It’s not possible.

Patty Murray and Hairy Reed should reconsider and concede. Arlen Specter should concede. The Hildabeast should concede.

See how easy it is. And meaningful!

Much more than 2%:

" Update, 1:46 p.m.

The first batch of numbers is out and they show 89 percent of the write-ins counted so far were perfect for Lisa Murkowski.

Out of 7,638 write-ins counted just 67 wrote in someone other than Murkowski.

The Division of Elections says 6,804 votes were unchallenged for Murkowski, representing 89.08 percent of ballots counted.

Another 678 of the ballots were challenged but the challenge was overruled by the Division. Those are considered to be "challenged but counted," and will be reviewed in the expected recount with the courts having the final say.

There were only 89 successful challenges of Murkowski votes. That represents just 1.17 percent of the ballots counted."
