Lapan added that the incident did not appear to be a regularly scheduled test, as no warnings to mariners or airmen appeared to be issued ahead of its launch. No FAA NOTMS were issued for the launch or were the MOA, Vandenberg or Point Mugu NAS Test Ranges activated

According to a bunch of guys over on Flightinfo.com there were CIVILIAN aircraft airborne and in the test area when this thing launched.
No warning was given.

Sooner or later those j@ckasses are going to get lucky and in spite of their own monumental incompetance actually do damage.

If the Pentagon can't rule it out as a threat, it was a threat.

Okay, so. wait. they have no idea who launched it, but there’s no cause for alarm? I saw it last night, it was like the big Vandenberg launches except no meandering and it as out west instead of up north. Like a big rocket..
If this was not freindly, well then this is NOT GOOD. It was just off the coast at a city with 11 million people. It headed west over the pacific, if it had headed over the mainland... what THEN?

Obama hit the wrong button on his handheld?
To: The Magical Mischief Tour
Wait a minute. Haven’t the authorities rushed to assure the public that this was not terrorist related?
