Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) cost the GOP control of the Senate, a powerful House Republican said.
Rep. Spencer Bachus (Ala.) said that Tea Party-backed candidates whom Palin endorsed underperformed against their Democratic rivals, costing the GOP key pickup opportunities.
"The Senate would be Republican today except for states [in which Palin endorsed candidates] like Christine O’Donnell in Delaware," Bachus said at a local Chamber of Commerce event last week, the Shelby County Reporter wrote Sunday. "Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate."
Bachus' is one of the most visible Republicans to criticize Palin for her political activity during this election season. Some Republicans have privately groused that Tea Party-backed candidates who were not electable prevented the GOP from taking control of the upper chamber.

I am not saying he wasnt a RINO i am just saying he probably would have won the Senate seat
true his cap and trade vote (among others) were disappointments but he probably would have voted with GOP 60-70% of the time especially in this environment

Palin did not endorse Angle in the primary, just as Mitt Romney endorsed Christine O'Donnell for the general, Palin endorsed Angle once she was already chosen, Mitt Romney also endorsed Angle.

The doddering old RINO fools are completely missing the big picture. America is fed up with socialism, big spending, big taxing, and big government running roughshod over the people and the constitution. Baucus and the RINOs had better get with the program and embrace Tea Party America and our small government constitutional principles and causes or THEY will soon be replaced by others who will!!

There are limits to which the independent and even GOP electorate is going to be pushed in so-called Blue states — witness the senatorial losses in NV, CO, CT, and DE — and near disaster in PA, which shouldn’t have even been close. Lifelong conservatives I know refused to vote for COD; others did. Fairly or unfairly, people feel the same way about Palin. Palin is polarizing to millions of Americans. Has she been treated like crap by the MSM? Yes. Is this fair? No. Will this change? Never.
With the Supreme Court at risk for a generation in 2012, there are plenty of other conservatives who are a better general election bet than Sarah Palin.
If Palin wins the GOP nomination, I will vote for her. But I’d rather her serve as the Secretary of Energy in a future Republican Administration.

Time to fire his sorry ass.
There is an enormous and valuable range of opinion on personalities and issues in the center-right world. If posters at Free Republic cannot handle internal dissent regarding the relative merits of various presidential candidates, then they are not ready for the big leagues. And I would bet that Jim Robinson would be the first to agree with me. This is a forum about the respectful exchange of views.
I will speak freely, often and respectfully regarding all presidential aspirants. If that is problemmatic for some, so be it. But I will not be silenced.
So, I will reiterate: I will vote for the GOP nominee for president in 2012. More than any other issue, the Supreme Court is at stake. But at this juncture I do not believe that Palin is the strongest GOP presidential candidate.
If Castle was so electable why didn’t he win the primary?
Two years ago, the Republicans were being consigned to the political wilderness. People were talking about a generation or more of Liberal dominance and the effective extinction of the GOP.
Now, after 18 months of heavy lifting, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin have restored them to control in Congress, and won them six seats in the Senate.
And this moron says that the fact that the establishment Republicans did not get ten seats is all Sarah Palin’s fault. What a miserable little puke.
These guys would have been happy with a permanent minority status, so long as nobody upset the applecart and they never missed a meal. They are what is wrong with the Republican Party, not Sarah Palin and certainly not the Tea Party.
It ignores the fact that Palin BROUGHT VOTES TO THE GOP! If McCain had had a “safer,” “moderate” choice in 2008, Bob Barr or some other candidate would have siphoned off about 10% of the vote for the right. And if the GOP had had its way, the Tea Party people would have just stayed home, and/or the real liberal would have won over the RINO in a two or three way race.
If the RINOs are worried about people wasting their vote on a third party, they should wake up and stop their headlong rush to make the Republican party into that third party.

Because with a 52-48 or 51-49 ‘Pub senate, the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee would be Jeff Sessions. As it is, we’re stuck with Pat Leahy for another two years’ worth of Obama judicial nominees and Justice Department antics. That’s all I need to know.
That’s such a good post, I’d love to see it as a thread in breaking news. Seriously. I am sick to death of all the anonymous sources and known RINO pols having their Palin-bashing articles posted on FR every minute since the election. It’s gotten beyond ridiculous.
Whether or not someone thinks that Sarah Palin would be a good presidential candidate is not the point. She worked her azz off for conservatism throughout this campaign cycle, and she has become one of the most recognizable faces of the Tea Party movement. I’m not sure where we’d be post-election if not for the Tea Party, but I do know it wouldn’t have been the tsunami we’re still celebrating today. Governor Palin deserves her fair measure of credit and respect for this, especially from so-called conservatives.
Sounds about right to me.
