Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) cost the GOP control of the Senate, a powerful House Republican said.
Rep. Spencer Bachus (Ala.) said that Tea Party-backed candidates whom Palin endorsed underperformed against their Democratic rivals, costing the GOP key pickup opportunities.
"The Senate would be Republican today except for states [in which Palin endorsed candidates] like Christine ODonnell in Delaware," Bachus said at a local Chamber of Commerce event last week, the Shelby County Reporter wrote Sunday. "Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate."
Bachus' is one of the most visible Republicans to criticize Palin for her political activity during this election season. Some Republicans have privately groused that Tea Party-backed candidates who were not electable prevented the GOP from taking control of the upper chamber.

Nonsense!
Palin (actually, Tea Party America) won us the House, 6 more seats in the Senate, 680 state legislative seats and 9 additional governorships, and no telling how many other positions in other state and local races!!
The Tea Party is the best thing to happen to the Republican party since Lincoln!! It’s breathed new life into the otherwise dying moribund GOP!!
We could have done a little better in the senate races had the Republican elite helped out a bit rather than bad mouthing our candidates 24/7!!
Good to know they’re beginning to recognize the power of Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. We have them in a panic!!
And we’ll be gunning for even more seats in 2012 and beyond, including the White House!!
It’s open season on corrupt bastards, good ‘ol boys and other assorted RINOS and turncoats!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
Go, Sarah, GO!!
Bachus is obviously a fool.
RINOs cost us the White House. They need to get the message that we’d rather lose with principled conservatives than lose with compromising, feckless wimps that call themselves Republicans. The Tea Party can’t win them all, but kowtowing to the MSM won’t win at all.
Bachus’ seat must be targeted for 2012. Where do I donate?
RINO hunting is such fun sport...
I'm not voting for Palin in 2012, but I'm blaming the NRSC. These dips**ts endorsed Crist and Specter early on.
I won’t give a DIME to the GOP establishment....only to conservative individual candidates, especially ones endorsed by the Tina Fey look-a-like...
Adding names to my S-list.
That's what I think, too.
I no longer give a penny to the RNC or NRA.
I donated directly to a dozen Tea Party candidates, and to the Gun Owners of America.
Not a penny to RINOs.
How do you suppose that down ballot would have turned out had Castle and the RNC got behind COD?
As far as Alaska, once more the RNC went against the will of the people. Murkowski had no business in this race and she wouldn’t be there without the establishment RNC. They are not our friends and have got to go if we are going to save this great country.
Of course not. The problem was the GOP Establishment’s sabotaging of the candidates that those states selected, not Palin having backed candidates in the primary.
Primary candidates whom she believed in, who were considerably more conservative than the alternatives, welcomed her aid and endorsement.
Palin did not miscalculate in her home state. Her candidate won the primary with margin to spare. Unfortunately, the incumbent decided to ignore those results and take on the party’s selected candidate in the general. Miller would have won easily without the write-in campaign. Who knows, he may still win.
Good point!
Then FReepers would have their own cesspool where they could throw poop at every GOP politician who makes a statement.
To Rep. Spencer Bachus
“be gone before someone drops a house on you too”
for later...
Though Bachus has been a harsh critics of bailouts, guess what he voted for?

So guess what committee Bachus is like to become chairman of?
