Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) cost the GOP control of the Senate, a powerful House Republican said.
Rep. Spencer Bachus (Ala.) said that Tea Party-backed candidates whom Palin endorsed underperformed against their Democratic rivals, costing the GOP key pickup opportunities.
"The Senate would be Republican today except for states [in which Palin endorsed candidates] like Christine ODonnell in Delaware," Bachus said at a local Chamber of Commerce event last week, the Shelby County Reporter wrote Sunday. "Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate."
Bachus' is one of the most visible Republicans to criticize Palin for her political activity during this election season. Some Republicans have privately groused that Tea Party-backed candidates who were not electable prevented the GOP from taking control of the upper chamber.

Senator, let’s make a deal. From this point forward neither Sarah Palin nor the Tea Party will support you. You speculate that this should improve your political future. Let’s find out.
RINO fossils had better be careful about stepping out into the sunlight. Tea Party America will squash them like the roaches they are.
Sarah Palin made NO primary endorsement in the Nevada senate primary. She endorsed Sharron Angle only after she won the primary.
Palin never made an endorsement in the Colorado senate race.
That sleazy Romney, he's always working behind the scene against Sarah Palin.
Bingo. TARP. TARP. TARP.
Bachus not only voted for it, he did so without having the first clue why, and against the wishes of the vast majority of his constituents. Your link gives a link to a clip of him on C-span explaining it. He evidently has no concept of how damning his statements are. http://www.c-span.org/Watch/Media/2010/06/13/HP/A/34131/Rep+Spencer+Bachus+RAL.aspx
(Since it’s a 32 minute clip and that’s cruel and unusual punishment to have to listen to, here are his money lines, which your link was merciful enough to provide:)
“A lot of people who I respect said you have to act. So we did act....I don’t know what would have happened if we hadn’t. I imagine most economists said it needed to be done. I think most of those same economists say now if you continue to do this you’ll create moral hazard by the bucket load.”
—and—
“People in my district were saying 99 to one, you know, I’m opposed to this. I voted for it because I felt like it was necessary.”
Summary: I don’t know. I imagine. I think. I felt like.
Bachus admits he was clueless...that he blindly went along on TARP on the say-so of people who have since been proven breathtakingly *wrong.* He proudly voted against the overwhelming wishes of the people who elected him and defied and ignored their advice. Of course, they’re the ones who were proven to have been *right* all along.
Oh yeah. Let’s all take heed of this braintrust’s counsel and analysis. His judgment’s just so superior.
Governor Palin's endorsements were designed to do two specific things:
(1) Make sure the underdog conservative candidate's views were heard; creating healthy, competitive primaries
(2) Take out corrupt, establishment hack Republicans who would have continued business as usual.
Doesn't matter that Christine lost, or Miller may lose, because nobody but the diehard pundits and GOP beltway dreamers were thinking that the GOP would take control of the Senate anyway. But they served their purpose. RINOs like Castle, Bennett, Grayson, Lowden, and Tom Campbell in CA have all been eliminated in the primaries and cannot inflict further damage to the GOP brand. Murkowski, if she wins, will have greatly diminished power in the Senate. She will not have rank on committees and will be essentially a new-comer.
So for you to base Sarah's potential presidential powers on the fact that some of her candidates lost, is ludicrous. Because she has single-handedly revived the GOP and prevented the Tea Partiers from going 3rd party, and also more of her endorsements have won than lost.
==snip==
Eff the GOP establishment and the doddering old RINO fools standing in our way!! Theyre not the solution to our problems, they ARE the problem!!
Rebellion is HERE!! Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!!
No bag limit on corrupt bastards and turncoat RINOS!!
Well Said, Sir! Well Said!
We have only begun to fight!!
RINOs and Libs Beware. We are taking Our Great Nation BACK!!
Damned right on both points.
Y’know the really GRATE thing about winning so many state races, is now we have even more red states to join in on the growing state rebellion against federal intrusion on the 10th amendment and states rights. More states to constitutionally nullify ObamaCommieCare, etc, and to pass their own anti-illegal alien invasion enforcement laws!!
We’re taking AMERICA back, district by district, state by state and all these asshole RINOs can do is whine about Sarah Palin!!
Go, Sara, GO!!
Go Tea Party America!!
It’s all about Liberty for you and for me!!
Thanks... Good 2nd Link. The establishment GOP at it again:
“For Bachus, 62, an ascent to chairman would mark a comeback from a political stumble in the fall of 2008. As the senior Republican on the financial services committee, he was expected to lead his partys negotiations on the $700 billion bailout that became known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Instead, Republican leaders lost confidence and removed him from that role.
Then he earned the ire of some party members when he changed his position on the bailout, attacking it in a private meeting and then voting for it, according to two Republican aides who were at the meeting...
Bachus also has engendered support through his fundraising for Republican candidates and colleagues, ranking among the top members this year in donations to the National Republican Campaign Committee, the partys campaign arm for House races...”
Plus because of the census, there should be some good redistricting going on soon also
That should help a lot.
“Most” economists said we had to act, but, on the other hand (as most economists are wont to say) most economists admit they have no idea whether such actions actually help or hinder the situation.
As always, more government is never the solution to our problems. More government simply adds to the burden.
Leave the economy to free enterprise and let it have it’s ups and downs. The ups are great and the downs are simply a natural check and balance. It’s nature’s way of weeding out the weaker performers, strengthening the overall.
TARP is not only unconstitutional and anti-Liberty it’s OBVIOUSLY a complete and utter FAILURE as we all said it would be!!
VOTE THE ROTTEN TARP PUSHERS OUT!!
The key thing, which The Hill Writer is overlooking, is that Sarah Palin made NO endorsement in the Nevada senate primary. Palin endorsed Angle only AFTER she won the primary.
I have NEVER liked the guy. 1) Met him a few years back at a Kiwanis meeting. He treated his aides like his own personal butlers, and 2) he said that the Farm Bill was a HORRIBLE bill but he voted for it because it was going to pass anyway.
I thought you might be ready to face the facts.
And would have given the left another GOP defector on critical issues.
Even in California, most counties are conservative red:
http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/results/california
The progressive liberal socialists/Marxists dominate the homosexual pervert RAT infested cities surrounding the Bay Area and illegal alien, crime-ridden, gang-land Los Angeles.
We should split those areas off into a new state called La La Land and allow California to return to free America.
When the hell are you going to recognize that Tea Party America won and is winning in an unprecedented landslide nationwide!! FU and your idiotic backstabbing slams on Angle. Don’t like her? T/S!! Join the RINO herd and get yourself trampled into the dust!! Coward!!
You are so off base you are not even on the field. I have NEVER said anything bad about the Tea Party. I am NOT backstabbing Angle, just stating the facts SO people like you can hopefully learn for the next time.

The entire article is very enlightening as to how Reid set the table to beat any Reb but especially Angle.
