Two F16s from the Dutch Royal Air Force have intercepted two Russian bombers over the North Sea on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for the Air Force.
The two Russian aircraft type TU-95 MS (Bear) were for some time monitored by the Dutch aircraft and eventually flew away.
It is the second time in more than one month that Russian long range bombers are flying in European airspace. On the night of 15th September, British, Danish and German aircraft came in action because of two Russian aircraft.
Tuesday first Danish and British aircraft came in action before the Dutch fighter jets took off from the airbase Leeuwarden of the so-called Quick Reaction Alert (QRA

With the Comrade ensconced in Kremlin West (aka White House) the Russkies say, What the hell and launch their bombers unfettered by any doubts.
Red Bears and Red Pandas everywhere!
Wow... I remember Russian Bears overflying my ship up in the Bering, 25 years ago. They were old airplanes then. I’m guessing they’re not building new ones.

The important thing here is the symbolism I guess. Russia now controls the main fuel lines to western Europe so this is just their way of showing off without breaking the bank (ie sending a carrier strike group on tour)
Yah, but we don't pretend that our B52's are a credible threat to the mainland of Russia anymore. They're just not.
Roger that.
No, but they are mules.
Huh?
Remember Afghanistan?
They can sure tote a lot of ordinance.
Bomb trucks extraordinaire.
We just saw that the airframes are still viable.
