The overseer of Alaska elections says officials will begin counting write-in ballots in the Senate race Nov. 10 in Juneau.
Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell tells The Associated Press the intent is to give citizens and candidates a clearer sense of who the write-in vote getters are. Sen. Lisa Murkowski waged a write-in campaign in a bid to keep her job after losing the GOP primary to Joe Miller. She is among 160 qualified write-in candidates.

Palin needed to stay as Alaska Governor thus proving she could focus and gain experience. Then Palin should have run for the Murkowski seat. She would have won big and been much better positioned as a credible 2012 Presidential candidate.
I don’t blame the Tea Party and I don’t know if the Tea Party Express was that involved in CO.
I am very surprised and disappointed that republicans didn’t do better in CO. I didn’t know if Buck was a good candidate or not.
Tuesday night was a great night but I still hate that we missed a few good opportunities like CO, NV, AK, and WA.
Near as I can figure, 40 percent of dims voted write in and around 40 percent of Republicans did too.
So it looks like Miller didn’t get many more voters in the general than he did in the primary. That’s really disappointing.
None of the RINO Murkowski primary voters voted for Miller, and enough of the Democrats crossed over.
Agree.
An additional and more likely thought is that many of the write-ins could be for the DJ that was suspended, Dan Fagan, as a vote of confidence and graditude to him for exposing Murkowskis unethical effort to game the electoral process.
No because those people would have supported Miller and they would have to either vote twice which would be vote fraud or they would have given up their vote for Miller
so they are either for lisa or some of the other candidates on the ballot
Tea Party that lost
Delaware Coons 56% O’Donnell 40%
Nevada Reid 50% Angle 45%
Colorado Bennet 48% Buck 47%
West Virginia Manchin 54% Raese 43%
These ppl considered so extreme, that they can’t win. Look at how many ppl actually voted for them. So in Delaware, you want to ignore 40% of the conservatives, to satisfy 16% moderates, just to win. In Nevada, you want to ignore the 45% so satisfy the 5% moderates, just to win. Colorado 1% modearate, West Virginia 11% moderates
Moderates that lost
Connecticut Blumenthal 54% McMahon 44%
California Boxer 52% Fiorina 43%
Mcmahon lost by 10%, Fiorina lost by 9%. How that happen? According to you Rino, these moderates should have a better chance
???
No less than 10% of the “write in” ballots were cast for Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, Lucifer, Dracula, Ralph Nader, Che Gueverra, Eric Cartman, and Fred Flintstone. Take that to the bank.
I don’t see how Miller can lose.
the rinos are the problem. They want the conservatives to vote for a rino, but the rinos do not vote for the conservative. This relationship is too one sided. The Rino will not win if all the conservatives do not turn out to vote for them, just as rino refuse to vote for the conservative
I read elsewhere of someone who work at a polling place. That its normal for most write in to be junk. Most ppl write in Mickey Mouse, My Dog etc. Unless Murkowski want to challenge the intent of the voter in court - when someone write in “My Dog” - they really meant her
>>> That is heresy. You must always pick the most conservative candidate. Their resume, experience, communications skills, etc. are unimportant. Now you will be labeled a RINO for the rest of your time here.
Tell me bout it. I barely escaped a lynching last night making a similar point.
Murkowski holds the seat for the republicans. Good enough under the circumstances and considering the dem alternative.

The problem wasn’t with the candidate’s themselves, its that the campaigns were not run well. Once they won the primaries, they were up against a well oiled machine and their organizations were out of their league. Next time around we need to hire professional campaigners, and political consultants (even if we despise them)...... in the General the object is to convince enough Sheeple to vote for your candidate so as to WIN! Once in office go back to being hard line conservatives.......hell you don’t need professional spin doctors for the Sheeple for another 6 years, most of them don’t pay attention between elections anyhow. That’s the game, as much as I might despise it. Unfortunately most of our fellow citizens are not engaged beyond the Pop Celebrity Culture and therefore ignorant.
LOL
The RINOs you mentioned ran in liberal states.
Millers “goofy baggage”? You mean like farting around the internet while on the clock? OH NOES! Definitely a deal breaker, hmm.
“Sharon Angle was an excellent choice.”
Results indicate otherwise.
That's what I thought, too. Miller should look into the bracelet issue. I would think something like that would be illegal. And you're also right about voters being stupid, especially voters who would be stupid enough to want to vote for Murkowski in the first place. Remember all those voters in Florida who apparently couldn't figure out the butterfly ballot? Well, maybe history repeated itself. Meanwhile, multiple TV networks have been totally irresponsible in running their scoreboard graphics that give every single write-in vote to Murkowski. They know they're wrong, but they do it anyway. As of right now, Murkowski has ZERO votes. She may very well win, but just about every media outlet is giving journalism a bad name by stating something that is definitely not true.
Or, those people did not support Miller but thought DJ Dan Fagan got a bum rap when he did no worse electioneering than Murkowski, asking the AK Supremes to create a special list of potential write-in candidates for voters just so they would see how to spell her name.
I get a kick out of these folks crying about how the Tea Party ruined their liberal GOPer’s chances of getting elected. WHO CARES IF A GOP PERSON GETS ELECTED???
I AM A SMALLER GOV’T PRO-LIFER AND THATS HOW I VOTE!!!!! I don’t care one penny about the GOP. If they are onboard with life, and after that, if they are for smaller gov’t, then fine. IF not, I don’t care. Seriously.
“Just like that moderate Fiorino took out Boxer?”
I’m in California, and can attest that she ran as a conservative including fiscal restraint, and stressing social conservatism. Pro-life.
Pro-life is not a winner in Calif.
DeVore would have been slaughtered.
>>> hell you dont need professional spin doctors for the Sheeple for another 6 years, most of them dont pay attention between elections anyhow. Thats the game, as much as I might despise it. General hostility for the voters you’re trying to influence is a sure winning strategy.
