The overseer of Alaska elections says officials will begin counting write-in ballots in the Senate race Nov. 10 in Juneau.

Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell tells The Associated Press the intent is to give citizens and candidates a clearer sense of who the write-in vote getters are. Sen. Lisa Murkowski waged a write-in campaign in a bid to keep her job after losing the GOP primary to Joe Miller. She is among 160 qualified write-in candidates.

Miller is toast. You can thank the GOP machine for that.

It looks like Murkowski has this in the bag. Not all of the write-ins will be valid or be for her, but it is reasonable to assume that she will have the lion’s share of them.

MAYBE, a lot of people that liked neither Miller (maybe they didn't like Sarah for whatever reason - maybe leaving office prematurely) or Murky, decided to vote for "Mickey Mouse" as a write-in protest vote.

We can only hope.

Even Fox acts like she's won already. Do they even understand elections? People could have written in Joe Miller for that matter, and in local elections here Mickey Mouse always gets some write-ins, and dead Presidents like Abe Lincoln usually receive a vote or two.

“Miller is toast. You can thank the GOP machine for that.”

I am not sure what you mean. I assume that Joe Miller had the support of the Republican party in Alaska.

I am shocked that she could pull it off. It has never been done in modern times. Strom Thurmond did it many years ago under very different circumstances. I find it even more remarkable that she pulled it off splitting the conservative vote (or at least Republican vote). I wish that she did not pull it off because she is not a reliable conservative. I prefer her to the rat however.

Have the absentee ballots been counted? Military?

If 6.62% of the votes that are write-in ballots which are not Moocowshcis, she loses.

The fat lady isn’t singing yet.

With a 160 write-in candidates, we’ll see what the outcome is when all is said and done, and counted.

I don’t get this.

But before blaming the RNC, just contrast Joe Miller with say, Marco Rubio. We can win with good conservative candidates like Rubio who don’t have a bunch of goofy baggage.

Actually it would be 6.62/40.95 or 16%. Possible but not likely.

One other thought. Voters can be stupid. How many filled in the write-in circle but never wrote anything in? I've seen it happen. Murkowski will probably claim that as hers, of course. I also saw that Murkowski gave out bracelets and pens with her name spelled correctly on them to remind voters. Now, wouldn't that be politicking if you brought your pen or bracelet within 100 feet of the polling place? I'm just saying, don't give up yet and challenge every vote.

What do you think- would people really write in another name than Lisa I would think the ones who wanted Joe would have just voted for him on the ballot not on the write in. Is it possible that people actually voted for the other names and not hers. I think she was smart and shifty to get a judge to let her have a list with her name on it. These evil and corrupt people are running the show it is shame.
I hope he pulls out a win but I think they out manuvered him with their tricks

She pulled it off because Alaska population is small. Most cities in the country have more people than Alaska.

And Murky has excellent name recognition there.

I don't think so.

the tally didn't include potentially tens of thousands of absentee ballots that election officials don't plan to begin counting until Tuesday.

“Miller is toast. You can thank the GOP machine for that.”

Not necessarily. Apparently some Alaskans with a sense of humor have voted and wrote in Joe Miller. If that was an organized effort, that would be rather cool, and funny!

I believe it was the Tea Party “Express” that derailed Lisa M. They did the same in NV and DE.

I don’t have as much of a problem with them doing it in DE but they blew it in NV. Sue Lowden or Danny Tarkanian would have beaten Reid soundly. Both were good candidates too — neither should be called RINOs. Sharron Angle just wasn’t a good choice. They blew it. I believe they did in AK too.

If you’re going to derail someone, do it with a good candidate.
