Dems find common ground: It's the White House's fault By: Ben Smith November 3, 2010 06:21 PM EDT

The bodies aren’t even cold yet in the House, but the Democratic Party has already opened up a bitter debate over who’s to blame.

The party’s bloodied moderates Wednesday released two years of pent-up anger at a party leadership they viewed as blind to their needs and deaf to the messages of voters who never asked for President Barack Obama’s ambitious first-term agenda.

Liberals pushed back hard: The problem, they say, was those undisciplined moderates, who won delays, unsightly compromises and a muddled message from a too-accommodating administration.

Yet a third group of Democratic politicians and operatives blamed not policy but a failed sales job for the party’s woes.

One thing all sides agree on: The White House blew it.

“It is clear that Democrats over-interpreted our mandate. Talk of a ‘political realignment’ and a ‘new progressive era’ proved wishful thinking,” the retiring Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh wrote in a New York Times op-ed posted online as the scope of last night’s losses became clear.

Bayh called the decision to focus on health care in a bad economy “overreach."

“We were too deferential to our most zealous supporters,” he wrote.

Bayh spoke for a wing of the party that had been, before the election, reluctant to criticize Obama’s management of the government, but which on Wednesday spoke loudly.

“Fundamentally, Democrats lost the middle,” the president of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, Ed Gresser, said Wednesday.

Why isn’t Politico writing an article about Pelosi, like they wrote about Palin? You remember, the article that trashed Palin with un-named GOP Ruling Class sources.

Seems that the "party leadership" on both sides are pissing off both parties. Hummmmm.

The more I read about "party leadership", the more the term morphs into "UNION Leaderships"...same principle, different level.

That's got to be why the unions and the democrats swap spit and take long, hot showers together so much...it's a "same tax marriage".

Seeing as how the moderate dems are [saying that they are] pissed with the leadership, maybe they should read a few Tea Party movement brochures, because that was one of the reasons the TPM sprang to life.

There is no political party stronger than the people...the people can take them all out [of office] with the vote.

What the left has to decide is, do they think up new and better lies, or - for once - listen to the people and abide by the Constitution. Until they do that, convincingly, they'll never last long in power, even with a supermajority.

The people RULE, that is what America is all about. Why do 5th graders know this, but our own government "leaders" don't?

I have watched MSNBC more in the last 24 hours than I have in the last 5 years. Their “analysis” of what went wrong is hilarious!

So it’s not their fault for blindly running over the cliff because Obama told them it would be okay? They apparently learned NOTHING from 1994 when under the mere threat of nationalized health care was enough to make the Rats lose both houses of Congress.

They only care about their hides. In the long-view, they further devastated America. Was anything FDR rammed through ever repealed? No.

Was anything LBJ rammed through every repealed? No.

It is just a one-way Democrat ratchet to the thorough destruction of America.

Will the socialist crap BHO rammed through get repealed? Unlikely.

The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.

(“If you look at the stuff that we did, it was on an issue-by-issue level popular – but we have to do something different in the way we talk about the challenges we face and the way we deal with them,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York.)

Talk about fantasy! Let’s talk about the “stuff that they did” issue by issue: how popular was the “stimulus”. How popular is “Healthcare” to this day? I hope they continue to be this clueless.
