For Obama, A Stinging Rebuke ("With humility", Obama to call for 'new era of bipartisanship')

The most pressing question as Mr. Obama picks through the results on Wednesday morning will be what lessons he takes from the electoral reversals. Was this the natural and unavoidable backlash in a time of historic economic distress or was it a repudiation of a big-spending activist government? Was it primarily a failure of communications as the White House has suggested lately or was it a fundamental disconnect with the values and priorities of the American public?

“He will read the results carefully and hear the messages the American people are sending,” David Axelrod, the president’s senior adviser and top political guru, said in an interview. “I think he’ll do that with care and with humility. But he’s also very centered, and his impulse is to focus on what we do next and how we respond in a way that’s constructive.”

Mr. Obama will start on Wednesday with a call for the country to put the polarizing elections behind it and forge bipartisanship for a new era, aides said. He plans to hold an afternoon news conference to directly address the public frustration that led to the Republican groundswell, and will invite leaders of both parties to meet to develop a common agenda to fix the economy and tame the deficit.

They didn’t lose that badly.

It will be the biggest loss either party has suffered since the 1940s.

And it is big, big in that the dems' spending spree will soon come to an end.

Obama’s “bipartisanship” is a lot like Muslim “tolerance”. It’s their mantra when they are operating from a position of weakness. Once they think they’re operating from a position of strength, it goes out the window.

An oddly soothing game.

Mr Obama should be reminded of his famous words, “Elections have consequences.”

Bipartisanship? That's convenient. Now that he lost his majority, the ONLY WAY he gets anything is if he tricks Republicans to go along. Nice try, loser.

The Repubs better be careful. This is only a ploy by the Liar in Chief. HE is the one that had better learn to listen to THE PEOPLE.

bipartisanship H_LL! he needs to have his friggin’ teeth stuffed down his throat.

He declared war on us. It needs to be finished and we need to win. I know of an island in the South Atlantic he can be king of and be with his very favorite people, himself.

Humility? What humility? The big O has zero humility and zero understanding of what humility means.

They won’t have that much power but they should be able to keep Obama from advancing the ball any more.
