Since there is no actual “Tea Party”, this is an odd promise.
If he means that he will always stand for cutting taxes then we’ll read his lips.

He’s gotten it. He doesn’t want to be running ahead of an irate
mob of Americans chasing him with pitchfork and torches.

I predict he will let us down by 9:30am tomorrow. No big deal. Someone should tell John that we never had faith in him to begin with. This is much deeper than seats and chairmanships. It is about a complete Fed/State realignment.

It’s a promise he can’t keep.
The first “test” is going to be the raising of the US debt ceiling. This HAS to happen, because of the ramifications of the US defaulting on its debt. But it’s going to p*ss a lot of people off.
The goal of the inbound TEA Party Republican Freshmen should be a deal to cut future US spending - possibly entitlements - to return to a balanced budget by 2012 or 2013 in exchange for raising the debt ceiling in early 2011. But the issue will be presented, and perceived, as the debt ceiling alone.

John, you better not. Because you guys had a chance when we had the presidency and both the House and Senate and we are still funding NPR today.
