Seemingly every election day estimate predicting increasingly bad news for Democrats is met by an exponential rise in the cost to taxpayers for President Obama’s “I’m outta here” world tour. Coincidence?

Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama’s visit to the city.

“The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,” a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

Absolutely disgusting. Tens of millions of Americans out of work and Obastard spends $2 BILLION on a sightseeing trip for him and 3000 of his closest Marxists.

Just how many meals for poor people could that buy? Just how many mortgages could that help avoid foreclosure? Just how many poor “black” kids could that send to college? ...and so on. What mean-spirited people the nobamas are.

This trip was initially planned for November 12th and was moved to November 4th, plus the addition of many top level staff members who were not originally scheduled to go. Add to that HRC out of the country, congress out of session.

Is something weird going to happen in DC with half the towns top politicians gone?

That's what I wondered; however, given India's recent history and the proclivity of folks in that part of the world, it's more likely that something will happen to that whole gaggle of folks who have booked that entire hotel in India.

Baloney.

That’s almost $70,000 per day, per person.

Well, 40 aircraft, several vehicles... Fuel for the plane trip over for Air Force One alone must be a good $50k, nevermind the other 39 planes. Two Marine One helicopters disassembled and sent over with them...

I'm not clear on the purpose of the trip. It looks like he's just trying to escape his duty to man up to this evening's results. After all, he's never had a real man (like a dad) in his life.

Not to sound naive, but what’s so pressing for him to take this trip?
Is there some kind of summit, or is this a “working vacation”?

Lex,

Like you, I'm certain the expenses will be very high.

However, the entire 82nd Airborne Division can be deployed to a foreign country during wartime for less than $5,000 per soldier, per day.

I don’t know why he is taking it. I suppose it is because he believes that he is owed it and bu God, he is taking what he can get while he can.
