GOP Headed for a Complete Sweep in Wisconsin
National Review Online ^ | 11/2/2010 | Andrew Stiles

Not only are Wisconsin Republicans thrilled at the prospect of unseating 18-year incumbent Sen. Russ Feingold (D) this cycle, they are also hoping to achieve the biggest statewide GOP shift in the country, at every level of government.

Democrats currently control just about every aspect of Wisconsin politics — the governorship, both houses of the state legislature, five out of eight House seats, and both Senate seats. Not for long.

Slim Democratic majorities in the State Senate (18 D, 15 R) and State Assembly (50 D, 45 R) are widely expected to flip to the Republicans, propelled by the larger GOP wave and strong candidates at the top of the ticket.

If this holds true, I expect Concealed Carry to finally pass in WI. That leaves one left in the Union, my old home state.

... and strong candidates at the top of the ticket.

A very succinct summary of what we have to do. Run good, clean, strong candidates who are smart, won't say stupid things that give the media and the 'Rats the chance to put us on the defensive, can communicate our message and vision effectively, and who will take it to the 'Rats and keep them off balance and on the defensive. We are on the right side of the major issues that the voting public is concerned about, spending, security, smaller government, etc. We stay on message, more often than not, we will win the election. Get off message, get distracted, say stupid things, then the 'Rats and the media will kill us.

The Democrat Congress-persons didn’t send their children to slash tires this year?

As great as CC would be I’m much more thrilled with a cleaning up of the voter rolls and Voter ID law.

Wow! Ron Johnson is one of my many heroes, today. Something about him tells me he won’t be changed by Washington, except to become more resolved, stronger.

:) Hey, we in the “great unwashed rural” areas have been trying our darndest to counteract the 10-to-1 population disadvantage we have against the liberal-infested Madison, Milwaukee, and a few other semi-metro centers...

I did as well....and from Madison, no less.

Madison, where the local law permits and encourages any dem/lib/prog/pop seeing a conservative/independent/republican prospective voter to stone them to death on sight, no less.

GO WISCONSIN!!

PS: a co-worker of mine voted at "find-gold's" polling place early this AM...he was ahead of her two places in line - surrounded by media and bodyguards. After he voted, he appeared confused and disoriented.

A polling place worker asked him if she could be of assistance.

He gave her a blank look...then asked politely where the purple inkwell was so he could stick his thumb in it to prove he voted!!

Yep...that's our "find gold"...long past the time to retire to the funny farm. He's done all the damage we're going to allow him to do to this state and this nation.

Russ?? YOU'RE FIRED!

Thank god my house has wheels. If my home state (MN) is governed by Dayton I’ll move to the “right” side of the river :)

I envy the people of Wisconsin, they are getting a great Gov. and Sen. I wish the Ohio GOP would get their head out of you know where and find us candidates like Ron Johnson and Scott Walker.

Here's an observation from just across the Mississippi in Minnesota: The Wisconsin GOP owes their election success to two men, Jim Doyle and Barack Obama. Jim Doyle's stupidity and arrogance killed the Democrats at the state level. Obama killed the Democrats at the national level.

Tim Pawlenty has been an effective GOP governor in Minnesota. The GOP reward for their success in Minnesota may very well be Mark Dayton as governor. It makes no sense.
