Giants win the Series! Giants win the Series!

Go ahead, say it. It's no longer mere fantasy or sheer folly to do so. A rare mix of veteran rejects and budding stars completed an unlikely ascent to the Major League summit Monday night, allowing all to repeat a five-word phrase never before heard:

World Series champion San Francisco Giants. The Giants made franchise history with a 3-1 triumph over the Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series, ignoring their underdog status to capture the 106th Fall Classic, four games to one.

An unlikely hero combined with a likely one to elevate San Francisco to new heights.

Right here too. Congrats!

I hope you’re right, and Mrs Lee puts the brakes on Cliff Lee’s Yankee ambitions.

You must not be a baseball fan.

Wrong. But I witnessed The 1975, 1986 and 1991 World Series. Sorry, but this year doesn't come close.

Can I buy drinks for everyone in Marin County so they have wicked hangovers leaving them inept to vote?

I'll chip in a few hundred toward that cause! Oh, and Go Sharks! (You can have Niemi back too, because he sucks! ha ha)

IF, IF the Giants can keep this rotation together, and keep the other young talent (i.e. Posey etc.)...the will become a dynasty not unlike Atlanta or NY or Oakland.

I spent many a day/night freezing my bum off @ Candlestick Park.

I feel you pain! It was worth it now. Hard to believe you can get frostbite in San Francisco.

Doesn’t that have a lot to do with the bad batting judgment of the Rangers than the work of the Giants? Yes, it could have been more nail-biting, but I was happy with what I saw.

It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it? Many of us suffered season after season through sometimes-decent, sometimes-mediocre and sometimes awful Giants teams...finally, we are rewarded with a championship!

It might could. Thing is, people like Edgar and Aubrey are probably not going to stay long. What keeps the engine going is a vital upper minor league (which the Giants used to own). Sabean is crafty but you only have so many cards and I think he’s shown his best stuff already.

Question: exactly how much are Lincecum/Wilson/Baumgardner/Cain going to cost by, say, this time next year?

The four series pitchers are signed through 2013, don't care about Zito!

Well we're used to seeing teams win in our backyard by now:

It's the third time in 10 years Dallas has had to witness another team winning in their backyard.

2000 : New Jersey Devils beat the Stars in Game 6 here.
2006 : The Miami Heat win game 6 here.
2010 : The Giants win here in Game 5.

I thought Lee was pitching around him and then, for whatever reason, he leaves something out over the plate to crush.

I think it was unintentional. He was not giving him anything remotely near the strike zone on the first two pitches. I think the third pitch just went where he didn't mean to throw it.

I must say in retrospect although I didn’t feel that way at the time, now I’m really happy the Heat won that Series, after Mark Cuban revealed himself as a Truther.
