Giants win the Series! Giants win the Series!

Go ahead, say it. It's no longer mere fantasy or sheer folly to do so. A rare mix of veteran rejects and budding stars completed an unlikely ascent to the Major League summit Monday night, allowing all to repeat a five-word phrase never before heard:

World Series champion San Francisco Giants. The Giants made franchise history with a 3-1 triumph over the Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series, ignoring their underdog status to capture the 106th Fall Classic, four games to one.

An unlikely hero combined with a likely one to elevate San Francisco to new heights.

After the 0-2 start, I had hoped for a 2-4 showing, but it was not a sweep. And now, a team with almost no one having any WS experience in the players and office now has it.

Now we just need a better manager.

, though it’s too bad that Lee is going to run off to New York next season.

His wife might have something to say about that.

One thing to know about the Giants as a franchise: they are the only professional franchise in the US all-time to have won 10,000 games.

You could look it up.

Thanks to Ron Washington being an idiot and choosing to pitch to him in the 7th.

No kidding. I thought Lee was pitching around him and then, for whatever reason, he leaves something out over the plate to crush. Irritating.

I do have to ask, how much does it suck to lose the World Series? I'm not trying to be a jerk; I'm a Cubs fan and have no personal experience with the World Series.

Best rotation in the majors, best bullpen in the majors. Lowest ERA in the majors, lowest OBP in the majors and lowest scored against in the majors, 2010.

And, the wnet against the HIGEST OBP, BA, and Runs Scored in the majors.

Great pitching beast every other element of baseball.

I am on BART now. It is crazy in SF. Low Lib hangover turnout, could affect the state and national elections.

I have lived in Texas 29 of my 32 years and only been to Houston twice.
It’s not typical of the rest of the state for sure.

Within the past few years I’ve had to deal with both my teams, the Tigers and the Rangers losing the World Series, it sucks!

Well, as a Giants fan who remembers 2002 with crystal clarity, it really hurts to lose a World Series you should have won - it still hurts every time I think about it. But the 4-0 loss to A’s in 1989 wasn’t so bad, because the A’s were clearly the superior team. I don’t think Texas fans should feel bad about this one. Pitching wins short series every time, and the Giants were the hottest team in baseball over the last few weeks. The team that gets hot at the end always seems to overachieve in the playoffs, regardless of talent level.

WAtching Lincecum was like watching Bob Gibson or Gaylord Perry. For this Series I really felt like I did back in the ‘60’s, except THIS TIME WE WON!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

As a life-long SF Giants fan I am sooooo excited for the boys.

I spent many a day/night freezing my bum off @ Candlestick Park. Was able to enjoy quite a few games at beautiful PacBell Park - yeah I know it is called AT&T but I hate name changes.

This is one very sweet victory. Ninergold3 aka GiantsPrincess!

In ‘94, an NY Rangers fan held a sign that said “Now I can die in peace”. After Showboat LeMasters, the 100’loss ‘85 team, Maldanado’s slide in ‘87, LaRussa’s juggernaut in ‘89, f’ing Baker and Scott Spezio, and yes, Bonds trying recapture the Championshipless teams of the 60’s, I know exactly what that NY Rangers fan meant.

You might want to rethink that last statement. Seems during one of the ALCS games in NY, the Yankee fans exhibited exceptionally boorish behavior to one Mrs. Cliff Lee to the tune of spitting at her and attempting to dumb adult beverages on her(at least according to a story I heard). Now, stop and think: would YOU want to move to a city where fans did THAT to you? In Texas, there is NO state income tax and a lower cost of living. Whatever the Yankees offer Lee, the Rangers’ ownership is willing to match it. In the end analysis, Lee would be able to keep more of his salary by staying in Texas. Just my $.02 worth.

Tonight I am not bitter(not much anyway). Tomorrow is the World Series, Stanley Cup, Super Bowl and NBA Finals all rolled into one. Tomorrow, Americans can tell the Marxists attempting to destroy this country what they think of Zero, Plastic Pelosi and Dingy Hary Reid. Tomorrow, is Judgment Day! Payback will be a (rhymes with witch).
