ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say a driver enraged because a 17-year-old boy egged his Mercedes on Halloween fatally shot the prankster in the neck and throat as he tried to run away.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones says the driver confronted the teen and fired 10 shots at him around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Never take eggs to a gun fight. Seconded.
I'll also add, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

Since the teen posed no threat, its homicide.
Not necessarily, depending on State law. In some states you have a right to defend property with deadly force.
It's the 10 shots, and the ones that scored in the "no shoot" zone above the shoulders that will do more damage to the shooter's defense case.

no doubt. when i was in high school my friends and i pulled plenty of dumb pranks, none of them worth being shot over. now i am a productive (i think) member of society and a father of two beautiful children. unfortunately this kid will not have the opportunity to mature and seek his way in life.

There have been a number of cases around Atlanta lately where gang members throw eggs, or something else at cars and when they stop, they mug or carjack the drivers.

He deserved a thorough ass-beating, but shooting him was carrying things a little too far.

I am told eggs can cause expensive damage to a paint job.

Really?
Now that possibility throws the debate into a whole new level.
If this was a carjacking, then yeah. 10 rounds is about right. For a start.
And even if this was no carjacking, how would the driver know for sure?

I take it you don't have a Mercedes. I had a 1957 190SL convertible with a 1911 Colt 200 grn HP protecting it. Some things you just don't egg.
Besides, some day he may want to run for Senate from Delaware and we don't want no stinkin egger's. He probably worships Satan and jerks off.

What is the difference between a porcupine and a Mercedes owner? Answer One has the pricks on the inside! Not to be too picky, but the joke goes:
What's the difference between a (insert name of luxury car here) and a porcupine?
The porcupine has pricks on the outside.

Same kind of story as yours except one of my buddies on the football team got ran over when our pickup was backing up. Fortunately, he was not hurt (too bad). Being one of the ring leaders, my coach darn near threw me off the team over that one :)

Deadly force for egging a car is excessive.
WHAT?! Are you questioning Private property rights? You must be a commie troll from DU!

The “Bacon” was “scrambled” to their location after hearing someone was “sunny side up” when they arrived. Police Wonder what “egged” him on and said the shooter is “toast”. This report from the EGG”P”....

Clearly we need stricter egg control laws.Egg will eat through your paint faster than you can get to a car wash. I know, I tried. Took 10 minutes to get to where I could wash the paint. The egg had already eaten through the clear-coat, and was working on the paint. It didn't, as they say, "buff out."
