Shock: Community Organizer Flops on 2010 Stump
The American Thinker ^ | November 01, 2010 | Kyle-Anne Shiver

Posted on 11/01/2010 1:11:46 AM PDT by Scanian

One can only shake the head in wonder at why Barack Obama, the brilliant-beyond-brilliant presidential candidate, has flopped so badly in the same type of campaign-stump venues he enchanted with fairy dust a mere two years ago.

Perhaps, as he opined himself in The Audacity of Hope, the throngs loved him in '08 because he was a "blank slate" upon whom voters cast their own pictures. Now that he has an actual record of governance, his audiences are no longer fodder for easy bamboozling. In '08, the people saw what they wanted to see; reality bites back in 2010.

Or perhaps Obama's current flop is the natural result of overexposure through constant in-your-face public appearances, even on entertainment television, so that his once-exceptional aura has hit the trash-bin of history. Familiarity breeds contempt; force-fed familiarity breeds a national demand for barf bags.

However, anyone who knows even a smidgen of Alinsky-style community organizing philosophy sees our community organizer in chief as exactly what he was trained to be. Both off the stump and on it, the community organizer is not a doer, but a talker. The community organizer is condescending and arrogant, but he is so far above the station and education of those he is sent in to organize that he gets away with his arrogance.

The community organizer is hired by outsiders to infiltrate a town considered by others ripe for organizing. The organizer's first priority is to ingratiate himself with the community insiders. To this end, he is instructed to employ manipulative tools, such as adopting the locals' dialects and particular phraseology. He is taught to adapt purposely and sell himself as one of them. The organizer's job is always one of deception -- from start to finish. Deceit is the organizer's middle name.

They loved him back then because he wasn't George Bush, and was apparently a good match for their fantasy candidate who could absolve of their guilt regarding their racist attitudes and emotions that they would never admit to having.

Ok I get it. Obamba and his ilk is bad for us. I can see what the future may hold for us for the next 2 years. But what I don’t get is what is what is change going to do for us? Just stopping Obamba? The people that are hurting about the Home issue don’t have any answers , other than get a job and pay. Well, there aren’t any jobs, except for Govt. Construction can’t build a home for less than what the forclosures are selling for, so they are out of business. Retail is dying. I just visited Reno Nev, and you wouldn’t believe the empty buildings in downtown, and Tahoe is almost a ghost town. TV, Radio are making the sentiment in this nation and they are part of the problem. There are real good citizens that are hurting and are embarrassed. I haven’t heard one real answer for the ones hurting from any party. I am disgusted, but I have voted already and I did vote a block Rep. and my kids did as well, but Im not happy.

You’d think the media would test the guy a little before all the idolatry sets in, but it’s quite telling that the only requirement needed to be intelligent is to be a member of the Democratic party. I guess that is a low standard, even for them. I doubt they’ll learn anything from the Obama debacle, but one can hope.

The answer is there is no one answer—that’s the entire problem with liberal ideas about government. Your experience is your experience, I get that, but it doesn’t resemble mine, for example. Doesn’t make either one less valid, but what government program or initiative is going to ‘work’ for both of us?

The answer is, whichever government initiative that’s going to allow those who can create jobs and economic growth work in YOUR part of the country to do what works for them, and those in MY part do what works for us.

What that means to me is not sending people to Washington to “do stuff” as much as it is sending them there to cut the freakin weeds that are choking initiatives by the enterpreneurs great and small. Pols win votes by telling us they’re going to go down to DC and work hard—which is exactly what causes all of these problems, pols inventing laws and regulations so they can say “See? Look what I did!” When the reality is, the best thing they could do is slash the amount of time Congress is in session.

We need citizens to educate themselves about who and what creates economic opportunity and growth (two different but related things, of course). We don’t need people voting R or D and saying, “OK, go make laws that fix stuff!”

That's the answer right there, has been my response ever since he came on the scene.

He's a total failure because he's like an actor you've read a thousand interviews with, or a singer you used to play guitar with in a garage band when he couldn't sing--we've seen Obama without the handlers, the lights, the fake columns, the promises-without-demonstrable-results.

He's gone from a perfect dream world to reality, and he's got nuthin' in the bag of tricks that can help the problems of BEING president as opposed to running for the presidency.

I am not being a smart a$$. The first step to solving a problem is admitting that the problem exists. To prevent driving off the cliff, quickly remove foot from gas pedal and place it firmly on the breaks. Praying sometimes also helps in such situations. We know the problem is on both sides. But the side with the greatest number of socialists with their leader passing laws are the D’s and the side with all the few conservatives in existence are the R’s. The conservatives are the break pads. Without conservatives there would be no stopping this wreck. If we do manage to stop safely, then next comes mapping a new route. We need only to toss the map we’ve been using, over the cliff and turn ourselves around. To completely chart a new course, we almost surely need to replace the driver. Having him arrested for driving while indoctrinated might be one way to go. Leading him to a long straight road to nowhere also might keep him from doing any more harm. But if we don’t stop now, the new map won’t change the rapid decent just up the road there. I am SO glad you can see the edge coming fast like I do. STOP the damn car on Tuesday. Let’s start charting a new map on Thursday. On Wednesday, I need to get some sleep.

Never admit to having them but, as I repeatedly post here, liberals are absolutely EATEN ALIVE with racial obsessions...to the point where skin color overshadows evey aspect of life for them. Chrissy Matthews is the prototype for that sort of color-struck white liberal.

If you’ve never done it, take a little time and read up on Art Laffer’s tax theories. He is not hard to understand.

Tax cutting works every time it is tried, independent of the party trying it. JFK, Reagan, and even Bush 43, as far as he went with it. Sensible tax policy that favors the private sector can work wonders. And rather quickly, too.

That's just the beginning.

The influence of government in our lives has to be decreased. We have to become business friendly, and reduce the obstacles to starting up and maintaining a business. We have to change the culture, and offer alternatives to the prevailing anti-American tilt in books and movies. We have to begin manufacturing things again, a lot of things made very well and priced so that the world will buy them--at this point, with manufacturing of so much overseas, we can build modern, efficient plants. We have to secure our borders. We have to drop the silliness of multiculturalism.

This will take a lot of time, probably 2 or more generations. But it has to happen, or we won't be Americans for much longer.

1) Repeal Obozo care- this will reduce a mandated burden on businesss

2) Genuine insurance overhaul- Portable coverage, Sale acrss stae lines, limits on lawsuits- This will make the insurance market competitive, leading to lower costs.

3) Lower income tax- both coporate and personal.- It is your money, not the governments if you have motre it you will either spend it, save, it, or invest it, all of which will get the nation moving again. If you save it, then banks have more available to lend out, if you spend it then business will need to create new jobs, if you invest it you will help to get the economy moving by supporting american business rather than over seas business.

4) Reduce govenment oversite- getting rid of stupid laws will lower their costs and our prices.

Yeah it sounds simnplistic, but that is a good start

>> But what I don’t get is what is what is change going to do for us? Just stopping Obamba?

Since he’s a communist bastard wreaking destruction on America, that would be JUST FINE for starters.

>> The people that are hurting about the Home issue don’t have any answers , other than get a job and pay.

Uh, quite a few of “the people” — the responsible ones — aren’t hurting about the “home” issue, which I take to mean “the inability to make payments on the big assed overpriced home I bought with my liars loan and no money down because... well, because I could and I figured it would ONLY GO UP in price FOREVER”.

So what are you looking for? Obama to dip into his “stash” and ladle out some money into your hand to make your “home” payment?

I have mixed feelings about the Laffer Curve.

What it really says is that to maximize tax revenue, marginal tax rates can’t be too high, but they also can’t be too low. It doesn’t directly address the issue of flat taxes being better than progressive taxes. It just says that the attempt to punish success kills that success and you won’t get more than x% overall tax revenue no matter what.

I think it is far more important for people to understand the differences between business owners and high earners, on the one hand, and workers on the other. The former groups have power over prices and their own incomes, such that attempts to hit them with high taxes backfire.

Those taxes can be successfully shifted onto the consumer/worker, who only has the power to not buy and not work. When the consumer attempts to refuse this shift, the result is a business failing and jobs disappearing. This is not an evil scheme by the business owners and high earners; it is a natural law. For a business to pay a tax, it must first get the money from the consumer/worker. Hence “progressive” tax schemes are doomed to failure because they amount to nothing more than wishful thinking.

What if I told you that the entire income tax system, with its rates that run as high as 35% corporate and 39.6% individual, could be replaced with a single flat tax on individual incomes ... and that the rate would only need to be 10% ? What would happen to the economy if American corporations didn’t pay any income tax at all, and there was no misguided attempt to punish success with progressively higher tax rates ? What would happen when income from investments, dividends, and wages were all treated equally and the rate was only 10% ? America would become so attractive to businesses that our unemployment rate would evaporate overnight.

Very good points, well said.

Here’s something else to consider: liberals cause harm to business not only through punitive taxation, but also through regulation.

The combined effects of the EPA, the EEOC, and OSHA excesses are every bit as destructive to jobs and the economy as are high tax rates.

You would get a lot of leverage out of cutting the budgets of these agencies to as close to zero as is politically possible. The amount of Federal spending you would thereby cut would not be huge (relative to trillion dollar deficits), but the beneficial effect on the economy would be enormous. Lots of leverage there.

Honestly?

The fact of the matter is, if folks cannot afford their payments, they are going to lose their home, there is no State policy that can reverse that, there is no magic job creating policy, not even tax cuts, that will create 6 million jobs overnight, it will not happen.

I do think there are some things that can and should be done to make that less painful, for example a foreclosed home not staying on a credit history for 7 yrears, but at the end of it all, the malinvestment simply has to be vomitted up and out before there is any hope of the economy functioning once again.
