The answer is there is no one answer—that’s the entire problem with liberal ideas about government. Your experience is your experience, I get that, but it doesn’t resemble mine, for example. Doesn’t make either one less valid, but what government program or initiative is going to ‘work’ for both of us?
The answer is, whichever government initiative that’s going to allow those who can create jobs and economic growth work in YOUR part of the country to do what works for them, and those in MY part do what works for us.
What that means to me is not sending people to Washington to “do stuff” as much as it is sending them there to cut the freakin weeds that are choking initiatives by the enterpreneurs great and small. Pols win votes by telling us they’re going to go down to DC and work hard—which is exactly what causes all of these problems, pols inventing laws and regulations so they can say “See? Look what I did!” When the reality is, the best thing they could do is slash the amount of time Congress is in session.
We need citizens to educate themselves about who and what creates economic opportunity and growth (two different but related things, of course). We don’t need people voting R or D and saying, “OK, go make laws that fix stuff!”
Undo stuff is more the order of the day.
