Representative Jane Harman, a California Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, said Friday that the packages seized in Britain and Dubai contained PETN, the same chemical explosive contained in the bomb sewn into the underwear of the Nigerian man who tried to blow up an airliner over Detroit last Dec. 25. That plot, too, was hatched in Yemen, a country that is regarded as one of the most significant fronts in the battle with extremists.
Ms. Harman, who was briefed by John S. Pistole, administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, said that both packages contained computer printer cartridges filled with the explosive, but that one used a cellphone as a detonator and the other had a timer.

John O. Brennan, the presidents top counterterrorism adviser, said that the packages containing explosives, which he compared in size to a breadbox, were undergoing forensic analysis and that the inquiry was at an early stage. He said investigators did not yet know how the explosives were intended to be activated.
He said the search for additional explosives was continuing. We dont want to presume we know the bounds of this plot, so we are looking at all packages, Mr. Brennan said.
The latest plot underscored once again the threat from Yemen and Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the branch of the terrorism network based there. Mr. Brennan called it the most active operational franchise of Al Qaeda.

Carter also said the packages were put on the planes outside of Yemen, indicating the terror cell involved has a wide reach.
And 0bama knew of this at 10pm the night before.

The entire First Family and all their friends, relatives, dudes in the neighborhood, and half of D.C. will soon be out of the country. I question the timing.
Not that Hussein cares, but is Bo going, too?
Yes how perfect! NATIONAL EERGENCY!!
Postpone the Election?
I guess it depends on how Yemeni go off!
That was UPS Flight 6.
Yes.
Probably loaded by child soldiers.
So muslim islamists would be the perps of this man-caused disaster attempt?
And no terrorist group has claimed responsibility yet?
CIA normally doesn’t take credit for their operations.
“Sheer luck” they didn’t go off. I guess that means “Our anti-terrorist systems worked as they were intended.” Right, Ms. Napolitano?
Odd.
That is NUTS!!! Wrong on many levels. It is fear inducing and in your face CRAZY.

I smell a “false flag” operation meant to make 0bama look competent on thwarting terrorism attacks, right before the election to help Democrat candidates. But I think it will backfire, as people will be reminded how indifferent he and the Democrats are to really fighting terrorism.
KV and I are in agreement with your post.
I am not much for polls.
Yet I would like to see was the thrawt of bombs a Wag the Tail pre election stunt.
Perfect National emerg to shut down elections coming from the President Ovious would be blowing up ballot drop boxes and planting suspicious packages by the hundreds of thousands across the nation Tuesday morning.
Amazingly silent ain’ nit.
And how like the narci boy to make Chicago the target.
