AQ may think a terrorist attack on the USA on the eve of elections would produce the same results.
Personally, I think it would produce the opposite result and stiffen our resolve to fight terrorism, but you can’t exepect AQ to understand what motivates Americans (if they did, they would have never attacked the USA to begin with).
Imagine what it would be like to be a passenger on that flight. You know there’s a possibility of a shoot-down. You don’t know how high that possibility is, but you know it’s possible.

The passenger (smuggler) forgot to pay his import tax and now he’s in big trouble.

So they look at THEIR OWN calendars, not ours, for auspicious dates ~ or, if they look at ours they look at the numbers independently of what they might mean.
So this is 10/29/2010, pr 20/10/2010, or, in fact, 10/29/10 ~ so when you subtract 10 from 29 on the left you get "the number 19", and when you subtract 10 from 29 on the right you also get "the number 19".
