The latest from Alaska's procedural wars:
Just hours before the final deadline, more than 100 Alaskans came out Thursday to file as write-in candidates in an effort to thwart Sen. Lisa Murkowski's bid to retain her Senate seat.
At the urging of a local talk radio host, scores of people signed up to be write-in candidates with the Alaska Division of Elections before registration closed....
Alaska Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai confirmed that at least 100 people filed as write-in candidates. Fenumiai said early Friday morning that she could not give a specific number yet of how many candidates signed up with a name similar to "Lisa Murkowski" because she had not seen all of their names yet.
Dan Fagan, who hosts a popular conservative radio talk show in Anchorage, said that after one listener called in to say he was registering as a write-in candidate, he encouraged others to do the same.
UPDATE: The current list of candidates is here and there are three other Lisas listed, including a Lisa M.
Sorry. I self reported myself to the admin to remove the post, and he removed it (thank goodness)
Minchowsky?... Marluskey?... McCronsky?....
Everyone in Alaska who had a first name beginning with L and a last name beginning with M and a SKI on the end should have filed...
Preferred spelling, easy to remember, :)))
Thank you..
:)
and a cursive capital E looks like a sideways M, so those should count as well!
/sarcasm
I thought I’d seen it all during the 2008 election.
I was mistaken.
Considering McAdmas is running third to the pair, I'd say it's pretty safe that either Miller or Moocowski will win.
“Her name wont be listed on the ballot, so having 100 Lisas wouldnt make any difference. Especially if people dont know who the other Lisas are”
The spoiled princess wants a list of write-ins at the polling places so people can see who the write-in candidates are, specifically her name. She had to take it to court because this isn’t supposed to happen. She got her way, making some people angry so they are making it harder for anyone asking for the list to find her name and it may make it harder for them to call mis-spellings for her since other names may be close to hers.
Nonsense.
I am Spartacus
I wonder if anyone got on the ballot as “Not the white man’s bitch” as somebody tried to do in Wisconsin. That would be a hoot.
“Overwhelm the system”.
Straight out of Rahm’s & NObama’s play book. Love it.
One TV show last night showed a wrist band with Murkowski’s name on it for people to wear into the polling place to spell her name right.
Woudn’t that wrist band be considered ‘Campaign Materials” & be confiscated???

Perhaps not. I always carry my sample ballot when I go to vote. I see nothing wrong with someone haveing a name written down.
Now if someone was standing outside the polls passing these out may be something else.
Not sure if it applied to everyone, but I think someone said there was about a hundred people registered as write in. Fun, fun fun.
If it were visible enough so that people around the wearer could see it, I'd demand that it be removed as "electioneering material". But there'd be no grounds to stop them carrying it out of sight and referring to it in the privacy of the booth. (Nor should there be.)
Yup, those wrist bands were her husband’s idea. He ordered something like 50K of them.
