... the title is drawn from how Karl Rove told Matthews that the CIA agent Valerie Plame was fair game for critics of her husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson.
Wilson, youll recall, was dispatched by the CIA in 2002 at the behest of Vice President Dick Cheneys office to investigate whether Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium from the African country of Niger. Wilson came back with the answer no, and he was outraged when President Bush nevertheless stuck with the claim in his 2003 State of the Union address, which made the case for war with Iraq. Just three days after Wilson attacked the speech in a New York Times op-ed, Robert Novak, the conservative columnist, blew Valerie Plames cover.

And Matt Cooper has not a clue as to the tons of stuff we at this site and elsewhere viewed. A clown that has no bearing on what really went down.
The purchase by Iraq during the oil for peace program where East German specially designed RF furnaces especially for the processing of uranium ores. The moving about by the Iraqi to shift equipment, secret movement of industrial process information in regards to uranium processing, and atomic bomb fabrication etc., took place.
All under the lazy eyes of the so called watch dogs. Those that where often deceived and frustrated in how the Iraqi would call the shots... and close down facilities, move crap around to unknown facility... how the Iraqi played up to the world and US press as how they where being abused...
And do we forget how Wilson was found to be involved in a French Company that was involved with extracting yellow cake uranium ore from Niger.
The white washes continue.
This is all as bad as what we later found to be the case in Honolulo(sp?), where a radio operator saw bogies on the screen, and supposedly, his chief told him to not worry about it... it was only some incoming B25s.
We know that result of that one. I continue to be worried why within constraint, our last administration did not make a more forceful case as to the various WMD Iraq had every intent to mature.
I can buy the need to keep down the chatter as to where the nuclear fuels where keeped, but at this stage it is rather shabby for anyone with any grain of honest reporting would not admit Saddam had every intention of fully resurecting the Iraqi nuclear program once the oil for peace program was lifted.

The movie, “The China Syndrome,” utter trash fantasy, is why we don’t have nuclear power in this country.

I might be wrong here but didn't Niger officials come forward and say that Wilson's claim of no uranium was false and that Hussein DID try to obtain some?

Thanks so much Enchante! I made that when it all was happening. I've learned to never delete a graphic, Plame-gate, Gorlick Wall, etc, they all seem to reemerge, lol.
